Zimbabwe Team Discussion

This is very exciting to see. Of course, there won't be the CdG trifecta, but this is much better than a kick in the teeth!

@CaptainCremer

This would be my best attempt at a Zimbabwean WCQ squad:

1. :zim: :bat: Hamilton Masakadza
2. :zim: :ar: Solomon Mire
3. :zim: :bat: Craig Ervine
4. :zim: :wkb: Brendan Taylor
5. :zim: :ar: Sean Williams
6. :zim: :ar: Sikandar Raza
7. :zim: :wk: Peter Moor :wk:
8. :zim: :ar: Graeme Cremer :c:
9. :zim: :ar: Luke Jongwe
10. :zim: :ar: Tendai Chisoro
11. :zim: :bwl: Kyle Jarvis
R. :zim: :bat: Tarisai Musakanda
R. :zim: :ar: Ryan Burl
R. :zim: :bwl: Wellington Masakadza
R. :zim: :bwl: Richard Ngarava

Why not go with the strength of the side: spin bowling.

Looks a decent side, with some experienced names and some reliable options. There is a small possibility that the qualifiers could be held in Zimbabwe, which would be ideal for the team. The other options would be the UAE (Cremer, Raza and Williams can make use of the conditions there) or Ireland/Scotland (where Jarvis has already played). They are one of the favourites going into the tournament. Honestly, I would be very happy to see them and Afghanistan coming forward into the WC19.

You missed Tendai Chatara! Otherwise an impressive looking squad. :)

Should the limited over captaincy be handed back to Taylor? I personally think Cremer sometimes cracks under pressure and does some blunders, as was seen against Windies.

The team actually hasn't done too badly under Cremer, and they did decent honestly ever since Cremer stepped in as captain. They've won a few series like in SL and some others, as well as some downfalls as well. I feel Cremer has performed better as captain, his bowling has definitely improved as well as his batting. Wouldn't expect him to be sacked any time soon, as for Taylor it would be ideal for him to focus his role as batsman. He can always give tips and tricks, can't he?

They could try out making Sikandar Raza captain for T20's. He's been around the longest, and he is arguably the best player in Zimbabwe currently after Brendan Taylor. Having Cremer for two formats (or rather 1.5, due to Zimbabwe barely playing Test cricket) and Raza for t20's would be ideal IMO.

Cremer should actively take tips from Taylor , Raza and Masakadza as they are the most experienced in the squad. Then only be can make right decisions under pressure.

Cremer and the coaching staff have been sacked. Zimbabwe improved so much under Heath Streak. Thanks ICC!
