Zimbabwe have announced their side. Given Sri Lanka's recent fortunes, Zimbabwe would be keen on scoring a point or two here.

Btw, Craig Ervine to captain Zimbabwe for Sri Lanka ODIs. Isnt he the brother of their ex-captain Sean Ervine? If so, how many times have brothers captained international sides? I can only think of the Chappels for starters.

If Sri Lanka wins today it would be a series win after ages for them. While Zimbabwe can still make comeback to win this series. With the current state of SLC it would be right to call this one a series between 2 evenly matched sides that have a lots of potential and can turn up to beat anyone in the world on their days.

I was very happy with the way Zimbabwe challenged Lanka in the first game. The Lankan response was on expected lines- as though, how can they score 300 against us? Kind of took me back to the late 90's when both of these teams were really world class. Either ways, its a good tour and the results, whichever way they go, ought to be celebrated for the benefit of both nations.

In the words of the great Tony Grieg, "These little Zimbabweans....."

I'm loving this spunk from them. I really wish they get more games over the next few years and become what they were earlier. (rather better than what they were)

I seem to be taking a loss on Vbookie/Sportsbook, but still happy to see Zimbabwe winning here.

A great exhibition for ODI Cricket. A close match on display. Feel for Sri Lanka after the way they fought back. But Zimbabwe really needed this win!

The lack of Jongwe in this post does not please me.

Apart from Muzarabani, Zimbabwe seem to rely on senior players. Any other promising youngsters?
The thought of Ervine and Williams retiring scares me at this point. But to answer your question Madande looks like an exciting keeper batsmen, Tadiwanashe Marumani is an exciting young batsmen, very aggressive. Brian Mudzinganyama has a lot of talent as a batsmen, started well in domestic cricket - just needs to continue to work on his game. Tashinga Musekiwa is an exciting player for the two shorter formats, scores quickly and bowls handy off-spin. Hopefully Mavuta and Mashinge continue to develop - they are both very good players. :)

*Shumba needs to be added to this list as well, He is a very composed bastman, good at building an Innings.

I still think we will need to lure Welch, Byrom and players like Snater back if we want to compete in International cricket when Ervine and Williams leave.

From the under-19s

Emannuel Bawa - good young batsman
Ngcini Dube - bowls at a good pace
Victor Chirwa - talented spinner

Don't know if they will stay but the Bennet brothers are very good all-rounders, Conner Mitchell is an all-rounder as well, but looks like a good batsman & Mathew Welch a handy keeper batsman. :)
