Is it fair to blame Younis Khan for Pak's ouster from CT?

Obviously Younis Khan dropping the catch didn't help but Taufel's decision to give the batsman out when it clearly wasn't out probably effect the result of the match. Had he been able to stay in I think 240-260 was on for Pakistan.

While our media may be bringing the match-fixing crap up and blaming the umpires, might I remind you guys which team threatened to go home if a certain umpire wasn't replaced? :)

The umpires accused some players of ball tampering, and the team turned it into a 'prestige issue' for the country.

yeah specially if its not the first time of basing ball tempering allegations on Pakistan...

what was later known to the world as reverse swing.....

In my opinion Inzimam's decision was correct for the time...

Yes, the umpires accused the Pakistan team of cheating. The Pakistan team represents the nation of Pakistan, so I would naturally be offended as well. Inzamam possibly could have walked onto the field for an over and then left, but I do agree with him; a protest was necessary because Hair even refused to tell him why he changed the ball (His response was you know what you were doing out there).

Simply said, many people here would make fun of Pakistan for ball tampering, because had Inzamam not protested, more than likely Inzamam and the team would have been charged with the ball tampering and found guility based on the word of the umpire. In hindsight, Inzamam still did the right thing and made it very clear that Pakistan did not cheat.

Also Sai, if you think Bucknor was bad in Australia, Hair and Doctrove (ok he's incompetent) were far worse in England that summer.

I wouldnt care. For me, a few players being accused of ball tampering is not an accusation on the entire nation. Sachin Tendulkar was accused of ball tampering, Rahul Dravid was accused of ball tampering (although he did the wrong thing of applying lozenges) but was it put upon the nation? The team could have finished the game and then defended their integrity after the game ended. That they chose not to come out and make a big hullaboo out of it, is their way of turning the issue round its head.

Except that Hair and Doctrove could not pin-point one moment or one fielder in which ball tampering occured.

He accused the entire team, not a few players. Sachin was accused of ball tampering, and convicted (as was Dravid). Also, there is a history of accusations of ball tampering upon the Pakistan cricket team since the 90s in England with reverse swing.

Even if Inzamam was not defending the nation, he was defending his team's integrity. He led from the front and put his foot down and said that he will not accept accusations upon his team.

Say what you want about Inzy, but this is one of the biggest reasons why I support the man through and through.

Quite literally. :p

I don't care about the ball tampering incident, in fact iirc the BCCI/the Indians supported Pakistan on the issue. I know I did.

I just don't see how you took a post regarding the Pakistani media and match fixing to India in Australia. Totally out of the blue.

Pakistan should get over this. These things always happen. They should make habit of this.

This is where I tied that in. I should have quoted him when I wrote it, my apologizes.

We're being accused of whining over an umpiring decision (its really the media, not the Pakistan team), but his team well... :laugh

One second, the Pakistani media and cricket experts are calling for an umpire's ban because that umpire gave two or three decisions against the team in a match. Now imagine Pakistan in a scenario similar to that of the Sydney test, where an umpire gives 13 wrong umpiring decisions against them, then the media ()......I can't imagine any further! So, zMario, Indo-Pak bhai bhai? :p

Are the Indians still whinging about the Sydney test? Funny how they go silent on the disgraceful umpiring of the 2001 series.

^ I don't get what made you think that we still "whine" about the Sydney test. :sarcasm He brought up a point and I just addressed it.
