Just needs to be less short format comps. Even there are too many ODI's. Each series should be (except ashes etc.) 3 tests, 3 ODI's and 1 twenty/20. And a lot shorter IPL!

NSW won the Big Bash last season too and it barely converted any NSW fans. Just like the CL hasn't either.

I watched EVERY ball from our last home summer Tests and all. Test cricket IS cricket. But I think to avoid player burnout T20 should rule over ODIs. T20 is the short, football style of cricket and Tests is the traditional hardcore fans version, like me. ODIs are neither and lack purpose, which could be the cause of Flintoff, Oram retirements. But also international cricket needs structure, to give matches a purpose.

I watch ODIs only during home summer and World Cups bcoz summer is cricket season and ODIs is cricket, but our tours of SA & Eng this year I only watched Tests & T20. ODIs have no purpose. I barely followed either ODI series or CT and this India tour too. I dont feel the urge. However I love our Tri Series we had.

I've read a lot here and people really seem to hate T20s although they themselves know they make no sense whatsoever with their opinion.

If it wasn't for the IPL-

1. Would Australia have found Shaun Marsh & David Warner?
2. Could Shane Watson have made a comeback without the help of his surreal stint with the Royals?
3. Could Rav Jadeja, Yusuf Pathan, Pragyan Ojha, Abhishek Nayar & Sudeep Tyagi even have excited the selectors if it wasn't for their outstanding performances in the IPL?
4. Could Fidel Edwards have his leg up and be feared by batsmen if it wasn't for his intimidating spells with DC?
5. Could the same Jacques Kallis, who was dropped in the World T20 2007 for being "old", start opening regularly in the ODI's and even be a part of the World T20 in 2009 if it wasn't for the IPL?
6. Could L.Balaji & Ashish Nehra have made a comeback if it wasn't for their unbelievable accuracy in the IPL?
7. What about TM Dilshan, Amit Mishra, AB DeVilliers, Rahul Dravid, Ravi Bopara, Dhawal Kulkarni, Luke Ronchi, Kamran Khan... didn't they benefit immensely by playing the IPL?

Look guys, I have no idea why some of you hate T20 cricket. Pessimists always hate change and innovation. T20 is one. No one had a problem with a Standard Bank Pro20 in South Africa, The Big Bash in Australia, The Twenty20 Cup in England. But India amazes the world with the Indian Premier League and The Champions League T20, and all of you go round about criticizing the BCCI, Indians, Lalit Modi, people playing IPL, people paying to watch the IPL, the advertisers, the fans... pretty much every one under the sun.

No one wants to look at the upside of T20 cricket. No one wants to admit that "My God, Kieron Pollard. What a talent! Look at Graham Napier. Amazing allrounder".

T20 has brought hope to the kids who seemed to have limited options in front of them and given hope to players wanting to resurrect their failing careers. It brings along with itself talent, power, excitement, fun and glory. The celebrations which followed RR's IPL win, the celebrations when DC lifted the cup, when Sussex made it to the CLT20, the joy on the face of Doug Bollinger after NSW won the CLT20... amazing scenes.

Why is it so difficult for y'all to embrace the youngest kid in the cricket family? Is it so hard to spot the happiness on the faces of the boys from Trinidad, tears in the eyes of Michael Yardy when Sussex qualified, the unmatchable joy on the faces of the guys from NSW?

Is it so hard for y'all to be happy in some one's happiness?

Twenty20 cricket, is simply overkill. I understand that it's all very exciting for spectators to watch as there are numerous boundaries every game, but the cricketing schedules were in overdrive already with both Test matches and One Day Internationals being played. They were struggling enough already as it was. So yes, Twenty20 is overkill.
