try using the print screen button 2 keys to the right of F12, go into paint and use Ctrl+V and ur pic will come up.

HBK, 1st of all, you dont need to press alt + printscreen, just pressing print screen is sufficient. this is a feature that allows the user to capture the screen on the clipboard. then you can paste it later on.

one use of this can be while working with dos, suppose you need to copy some of the text displayed on the screen, just put the window in full screen mode, and press the print screen button.
next, open notepad, and press ctrl + V (paste). the text from the dos window is pasted into notepad.

Alt + Printscreen takes a grab of the currently active window whereas Printscreen on its own grabs the entire screen.

Yeah print screen is handy. It's funny at school as well when you take a screenie of someone's screen open it in paint, save the image, open it up and press F11. Makes the picture full screen so when they move the mouse they think the computer has frozen :laugh

OMG, hilarious, that'll actually work.

It is easier to right click and use the mark function for that (use your mouse to select the text you want then hit enter and it will be on the clipboard)

do you all think that this function is easier than any screen shot software

Well you can use Fraps(www.fraps.com), which simplfies the function by saving every single screenshot you take so you don't need to go to Paint every time to paste them in order to take a new one. Fraps also allow you to capture video/screen recording.
However a good free screen recording software (in my opinion) is CamStudio(www.camstudio.org)
