Since May 2006,Team India has played 21 ODI's,5 Tests and 9 T20's.

Add to this they will be playing Pakistan from 5th November.
Right after the Pak series is over, the Indians head off to Aus to play 4 Tests and Tri-Nations ODI's.
They come back and host South Africa, then travel to Lanka and Zimbabawe.
After which you have the Asia Cup and the ICC Champions Trophy.

Isn't it a bit too much ?

P.S-The gap between the Pak tour and Aus toru will be just 3 days.

They probably are but in saying that they have always gone over board when it comes to the ODI's.

As long as it's up to the individual boards to work out the itineraries we'll always have some teams playing far too much, whilst others struggle to get a game.

Way to much certainly.
I believe all nations should be equal and it should be balanced out so each play the same or similar amount of games and India have played way to much, especially in ODI's.
They haven't had break for who knows how long.

Then there is nations such as Australia who played prior to the Twenty20 World Cup only in the World Cup in the West Indies.

I Think the ICC should definalty look to do something about this and try to balance the amount of cricket played by as equal as possible.

Till date, the Aussies have played only the 7 games they played in India post World Cup 2007.

Some one's gotta tell the BCCI to have 3 ODI's and 2 Tests on their upcoming Pak tour.

well....they got nearly 15 days break b4 pakistan series..i think they shud have some break btw pak series and down under series ...

sachin sorav dravid zaheer had good break...dhoni yuvaraj r.p singh, ..they need to be given a big break...they played in ireland and then england and then to south africa and then to india..they cudnt even spend time wit their families..

It is more than a bit too much. Indians are the most unfit cricketers in the world, whose home conditions are among the hardest to play in, in the world. Because of the flat pitches, test matches go 5 days more often than not and teams are run ragged in the field in 50 over games.

They really need to make all international teams play the same number of games per 5 years (is such a policy already in place?). New Zealand seem to never play a series whilst India are always playing.

Its all to do with money but the BCCI need to learn that winning earns more fans and money in the long term than seven ODIs against Australia do.

Rugby for instance ?
I dont see the Windies play, neither do i see the Lankans play.

Is India playing too much cricket ? No way, they need more Tests and less ODIs.

India needs less cricket now. Its on a over-kill. Pity those players who have the pressure of the whole country calling for their neck after every loss, and you have to continuously sweat it out to win.

The ICC should step in. The BCCI will be happy to schedule more matches. They wont do anything

Since May 2006, Australia has played 7 Tests and 41 ODIs. This has been a quiet period for tours, due to the number of tournaments being held.

In 2008, Australia are scheduled for 19 Tests and 24 ODIs, plus up to 5 finals ODIs. No doubt there will be another 5 or so T20Is.

It's not even from year to year.

Yeah, like Hooper said.
More tests, less ODI's/T20's.

Would like to see less cricket on the whole (give em a break!) like an off season or something.
They're just grinding it through the whole year! NZ needs to play alot more cricket as well.

See,by the time India goes to Australia they will be exhausted physically as well as mentally-after the Pak series.
Add to that, the board might have a new test captain to worsen things.

Australia would hammer us.
I pity the players here !

If the selectors are smart, they will rotate fringe players like Dinesh Karthik with other fringe players like Gambhir and the Big Three so they are kept fresh. The RFM bowlers like Sreesanth and RP Singh cannot play all the games either, they must be rested and rotated too, especially the former because Sreesanth really sprints in and gives it his all, it will catch up to him.

well I think we should only play against team in the top 10 rankings
not teams like Hong Kong or other teams
