One advantage sony has is that you can by games anywhere in the world and still use them a console bought from somewhere else,

PS3 is a great system, however our family has the liberty of a 42" 1080p plasma to run it on, this may not be the same for all people, so can someone let us know how they both compare in SD?

just because you have a huge HD Tv (show off) doesn't mean you can't try it on SD. You don't need to ask someone else to test SD for the Ps3.

Have you got an Xbox 360? If not then obviously you can't compare both but i have an Xbox running in my room on my LG 22" HD tv and it looks amazing. There is a huge difference between SD and HD. I had SD on without knowing when I first played Halo 3 and switched it off after being disgusted with the gfx. As i reached down to take the disc out, I noticed that i had the switch on the HD cable on SD TV! lol

I know it seems like im showing off, but this is a computer and tech forum so I figure it doesnt matter, I'm sure I'm not the only one. The reason I can't test SD is I don't have SD cables, only HDMI. I have had a 360 as well btw, so don't assume I haven't compared properly.

Only thing PS3 has to offer is 'blue-ray' so everyone must watch a ton of dvd's......wait of course they do because theres no games to play on the PS3...

Get a 360, PS3 online is rubbish probably why it's free just sucks and yeah...360!

PS3 online is going to be good because of PS3 home which is this

I've got a PS3, seems very good, online has very few problems and is free. So i'm going PS3.

Off topic:
I have the Ps3 on a 20" HD Ready TV, does this mean I can get full settings?

Depends on what you consider full settings, and also depends on the resolution of the TV. If you want to get true hd, 1080P you need a seriously good tele, so if it's 1080p you're after, i dont think you'll get it on your tv, most 1080p tv's are 32"+.

Most PS3 games are in 720P. My TV can go up to 1080I.
