    Commonwealth Bank Series Feb-Mar 2011/12

How is the D/L method not adding any runs to the target fair? Australia batted the first 11 overs of their innings under the assumption they would have to bat the full 50 overs and thus they wouldn't have been as attacking as they would be had they known it would be a 32 over-a-side game from...

Trans-Tasman Trophy (NZ in Australia), December 2011/12

How does Bollinger deserve to be in the team, let alone spearhead? There is an abundance of pace bowlers performing significantly better than him at the moment. Interestingly enough, when you take away Bollinger's statistics against Pakistan, New Zealand and the West Indies (the same teams you...

Good opportunity for Ponting to play a lengthy innings and bat himself into form against a good bowling attack given the relative lack of match-pressure with a 188-run lead.

Bulls have been impressive this season, particularly given they haven't been full strength with the injuries to Hopes and Lynn. Tasmania seemed to be carrying quite a long tail though with Faulkner batting at #6.

I'm not questioning your judgment on Philander, I haven't seen him play, but he does possess an impressive first-class bowling record - 244 wickets at 19.78. Are those statistics a result of bowler-friendly pitches, inept opposition batting line-ups, etc? Just curious.

Katich has taken 2/24 off 10 overs so far on the first day of the Sheffield Shield match between New South Wales and South Australia whilst the rest of the bowlers have combined for 49 wicket-less overs. Katich should be in the squad for his bowling! :D

Warne-Muralidaran Trophy (Australia in Sri Lanka) Aug-Sep 2011

Happy with this shift in the batting order, hopefully they intend on persisting with it in the longer term. Looking forward to see how this bowling attack performs without Harris.

If Australia wins this Test, would it be worth letting Ponting be rested for the third Test so the selectors can get another look of Hughes vs Marsh vs Khawaja?

Why have Australia gone through eleven spinners when we had Ponting all along?

Harris gets Paranavitana first ball of the innings! A just reward given Harris' disciplined bowling in Sri Lanka's first innings. Nearly had Sangakkara first ball as well.

Clarke taking an attacking approach against the spinners. :clap The batsmen may as well play with conviction and score runs whilst they're in as opposed to shutting up shop and eventually getting out to a good ball, given the way the pitch is playing.

Is Mendis one of the best players to have in a squad but not actually play? The cost of preparation time he exacts on the opposing team, regardless of whether he actually ends up playing, is possibly an underrated factor, because the time spent watching film of Mendis' variations out of the hand...

Warne-Muralidaran Trophy (Australia in Sri Lanka) Aug-Sep 2011

Lyon takes the wicket of Samaraweera. If Lyon were to take the wicket of anyone in this second innings of the Sri Lanka Board XI, Samaraweera's probably the most influential in terms of convincing the selectors to pick him over Beer, as he'll definitely be a part of Sri Lanka's Test batting...

Warne-Muralidaran Trophy (Australia in Sri Lanka) Aug-Sep 2011

Yeah, Clarke should be shifted to #5 in my opinion. I'd go 1. Watson, 2. Hughes, 3. Khawaja, 4. Ponting, 5. Clarke and 6. Hussey.

Warne-Muralidaran Trophy (Australia in Sri Lanka) Aug-Sep 2011

To put Dussey's performance into perspective, here are the stats for the most recent ten innings of Dussey and Hopes (before he got dropped): Dussey: 296 runs, averaging 37.00 at a SR of 90.71 Hopes: 274 runs, averaging 34.25 at a SR of 114.16 Also, of those 10 innings, Hopes played 7 of those...
