For years I have been holding the bat with what I thought was a classical grip, that is with the V's of the hand pointing straight down the back of the bat.
Recently, I was told to hold them slightly at an angle so that on the back lift, the bat is held tilted at a 45 degree angle.

So, the plastic stops the bat from drying out?
How much sanding should be done on the bat? Just get a sanding machine out and fine sandpaper and sand until any cracks have gone?
If there are no cracks, should I even bother with sanding?
It's just a clear bit of plastic - quality bat so I imagine the material is good.
The mesh stuff is what people use for repairs isn't it?
Anyway, with the clear plastic - how often does the bat need to be oiled? Why should a bit of plastic suddenyl mean that the bat doesn't need oiling? :)

Supposedly all the power in a shot comes from the right hand (bottom). Most of the time you want the top and bottom hands to be in equality but if you want to hit a big six, you can sometimes force it through with the bottom hand.
Is it possible to slide the right hand down the bat for this so...
Common knowledge seems to be that you don't need to oil faced bats (plastic over the front) and that you can just do the toe if that's not covered.
Surely, these bats need an oil at some point in their life?
I want to spray paint my helmet a different colour. Is that ok?
It's a plastic shell, I doubt a bit of paint will do any damage to the plastic, it's only paint :)
I'm referring to amateur cricket here rather than 5 day test matches where the wicket will change.
I have a book, which states "99 times out of 100 you should bat first if you win the toss. It is very difficult to state the case for fielding first unless you have a very poor batting side."...
field positioning will have a lot to do with it though!
For example, is it even worth having slips? Slips are quite an attacking position and for 20:20 I would assume you need defensive fieldings and positions to stop the singles.
