2003 EUROCON Euro Cup

[Paranoid Kendroid]

The 2003 EUROCON Euro Cup (colloquially known as the EURO) was the third-edition of top-tier 50-over European Cricket competition.

Norway were the hosts of the tournament which ran from June 18 to July 06.

8 nations participated in the tournament with the defending champions (

Netherlands) missing out due to funding issues.

Guernsey and

Denmark emerged as joint-champions after the final ended in a tie.

Kylian Michiels and

Aksel Johansson were announced as Players of the Tournament.​

The top-two nations from Group A and Group B advanced to the semi-finals, leading to a grand finale.

Squads

Each participating member nation was required to name a 15-player squad at the start of the tournament.
No upgrades could've been spent to improve players mid-tournament; upgrades need to be made during squad announcement.

Lineups

Playing XIs were required to contain at least one capable wicket-keeper (//) and six bowling (//) options.

Format

The eight participants were split into two groups of four where they played each nation in their group - once.
Top-two nations from Group A and Group B advanced to the semi-finals with the winners of each game playing the final.

Points System

Points were awarded using the following system during the group stage:

Win: 3 points / Tie: 2 points / N/R: 1 point / Loss: 0 points

Player Injuries

Injuries were randomly simulated to give this league somewhat of a realistic edge.
Players that play without a rest were more likely to get injured.

- Can play one game early with a 50% ratings decrease upon return. Heals fully after a two-game rest.

Degree 4

* Out for two to three games; instantly made unavailable
- Can play one game early with a 25% ratings decrease upon return. Heals fully after a three-game rest

Degree 5

* Out for four to five games; instantly made unavailable
- Can play one game early with a 10% ratings decrease upon return. Heals fully after a five-game rest

Degree 6

* Out for six to ten games; instantly made unavailable
- Heals fully after recovering from injury

Degree 7

Ruled out for the remainder of the series/tournament
- You can call-up a replacement if your player pool can support it
