General Cricket Discussion

Guess the ICC is going to shoot itself in the foot again. The CT 2025 schedule marks Rawalpindi and Karachi as the venues for the semi-finals.

However, should India travel to Pakistan and play and reach the semi-finals, one of those venues would magically change to Lahore.

Imagine the last minute hassles that people will face if it comes to that.

Don't think India will ever tour Pakistan under current rule.

Lot of talk yet again about the potential non-participation of India in the Pakistan edition of the CT. my 2 cents on this:

Given the political tensions, the ICC shouldn't be looking to host India v Pakistan games in each edition of any ICC event. Fixing the schedules for more gate revenue makes no sense whatsoever. If the ICC is incompetent of raising revenue, they should look at hiring Revenue Management experts to take the game to the next level.

For India, the political stand off is understandable. However, why does this not extend to other sports? I do believe the hockey teams played each other in a test series a few years ago. There have also been instances of chess, table tennis players crossing over to play in tournaments. If the hatred towards Pakistan is real, the Indian govt needs to stop all sporting activities. Furthermore, the call of India playing Pakistan in 'fixed' games needs to be looked at. The ICC needs to look at drawing lots, like they did during the CWC 2011 for each tournament.

Otherwise, we will be faced with this ridiculous scenario for yet another 5-10 years!

Zimbabwe are gonna have to go through sub regional qualification for the 2026 T20WC, facing Gambia, Seychelles, Mozambique, Kenya and Rwanda

One thing I always find quite fun about cricket games is seeing who gets picked for international sides a little way into that particular future. Cricket Captain isn't usually that much fun (it's mostly your six best current players and five regens) but the Big Ant cricket games are much spicier. For example, this is an ODI team from December 2027 in a video by one of the Cricket 24 YouTubers:
  1. :eng: :bat: Will Smeed
  2. :eng: :bat: Emilio Gay
  3. :eng: :wkb: Michael Pepper
  4. :eng: :wk: Jos Buttler :c:
  5. :eng: :wkb: Ollie Pope
  6. :eng: :ar: Ben Stokes
  7. :eng: :ar: Ben Green
  8. :eng: :ar: Chris Woakes
  9. :eng: :bwl: Mark Wood
  10. :eng: :bwl: Liam Trevaskis
  11. :eng: :bwl: Jofra Archer

I think Pujara was captaining CSK in the 2030s on one video I saw

Cheteshwar was a good captaincy candidate for India. I am genuinely surprised that he never got the chance to stand in for a game or two. Not so much about T20, but I do feel Pujara was a very good batsman, whom we simply categorized as a Test specialist.

I'm not sure if, in an era of ever-increasing strike rates, Indian fans would have been happy Pujara batting in the top 3.
