Dravid's appointment as captain ended the tenure of a successful captain in 2005. History repeats itself in 2021 again.

Its a weird coincidence that Dravid's been involved in both instances in Indian cricketing history where a current captain is transitioned out in a "controversial manner". When Ganguly-Chappell captaincy saga unfolded, Dravid was the vice captain and took over the team. Right now, he's the coach who is taking over this team.

History says that the brief period of 2005-07 when Dravid and Chappell operated, India endured a very tricky/turbulent phase but they actually came out of it with a lot of lessons and fruits that ripened to maximum sweetness (e.g. Yuvraj, Dhoni, Raina, etc. all blossomed during this period). Also India became an excellent chasing side during this period only. So cautious optimism that similar things could follow now too! Dravid is used to these challenges, and man does the guy thrive in these situations even when he batted for India in test cricket very so often!!

To make things fair and square added Hardik Pandya & Jasprit Bumrah as well in the above poll.

Good time to re-ignite the debate.

I do feel Rohit might step aside from Tests very soon. Honestly, they could simply take a fresh side to the Windies, dont expect Rohit, Pujara and Virat to linger longer in the longest format now.

Rohit makes sense. But Virat, I doubt, will want to give up playing Test cricket. Unless BCCI is looking at drastic changes, I expect Virat to be in the playing XI. Pujara likely will get the boot now.
