Something I forgot to mention is that this is a Bannerman Shield series. So there's also an imaginary prize on the line, even if it's no Oye Hoye Trophy.

If India are able to win it, they'd be the first country to unite the Bannerman Shield and Maclagan Shield since Australia in 2011.

Okay. Calling this a dream would be an understatement, specially after what had happened by lunch 1st day.

I seriously don't remember the last time India had Australia on the mat to this extent on an away tour.

It would be interesting to see how Australia play tomorrow. It's a mountain to climb and nearly impossible to pull it off, and I would have said the same even if Australia were 12/0 at close of play.

I don't get why Australia don't want Travis Head to open. He has done well and is doing well versus India even now. Can be aggressive when required and reminds me a bit of Matthew Hayden when in full flow. With Head opening, McSweeney can drop to the middle order where he belongs and is more comfortable. Alternatively, let Head open and bring in both Carey and Inglis. Doesn't hurt to have 2 wicket keeper batsmen play in the middle order.

I wouldn't mind that, but they are pretty unlikely to do that after Smith opening exploded in their faces. Although I do think we have to move someone up - if I was the selector and had this season's Shield figures available, I'd send up Carey (who also opens in limited overs games) and then we either pick another AR (Cartwright/Webster) or Inglis at 7.

(With that said, if I was a selector, I'd have Kurtis Patterson and Oli Davies in the squad as well as Cartwright, all instead of Marnus and probably McSweeney who just isn't ready yet)

With Head- you have someone who has opened in T20/ODI. yes, the red ball movement can be a bit difficult to discern initially, but he does seem ready. That said, Patterson is a good option. The mistake that George Bailey seems to be making here- he wants a replacement in the same mould as Warner. Probably not going to get one right away. Perhaps, has to look at a more traditional option instead.

To be honest, it's somewhat understandable, because Usman is a fairly slow player - but I would agree that we're better served with two balanced openers in the absence of a Warneresque talent.
