    DBC 17 Batting

I've been seeing this shot more since the patch. Is this the closest to the square drive there is? It's more of a front foot cut with a flourish, but it'll do as a square drive for now.

I'd estimate that I've had 75% to the keeper and 25% to slips.

Don Bradman Cricket 17 - Suggestions

Both AI and user fielding needs tightening up in my opinon. Both I and the AI have run 4 countless times and 5 several times due to the fact that when the fielder stops the ball before the rope he then proceeds to stand still for several seconds and wait for another fielder to arrive. If another...

    DBC 17 Batting

I only ever played sweeps and reverse sweeps against spinners in DBC14 and could milk them all day long. It doesn't seem as easy on DBC17 as more appear to go in the air, which, in addition to the AI placing fielders more intelligently, results in giving more chances of a catch. However, unlike...

Criticism isn't frowned upon at all; it's the way that most people convey their criticism(s) that causes issues, i.e. they throw their toys out of the pram, have a little hissy fit and then repeat themselves over and over again.

    New Update Discussion

I didn't say there was, I am only basing it on my experience. In the first ten overs of my match I've hit way more shots into the cover region than I had done in probably 120+ overs of batting pre-patch. Even when I was trying to play the aforementioned shot pre-patch it rarely happened, yet...

@Dannyburke now, now, no need to be so aggressive. This is the shot I am referring to. The shot that can now be hit more easily (since the patch) and goes into the cover region and square. Remember, my original statement was simply that it was easier to hit into these areas post-patch, NOT...

    New Update Discussion

I simply used the term 'replacement cover drive' as it hits the ball into the area where a cover drive should go and as there doesn't seem to be a traditional cover drive I am happy to use that term for now, even though it is not technically a drive. Maybe 'front foot cut shot to cover' should...

    New Update Discussion

It's a front foot shot, mate, not a back foot one, as I stated in my post, hence the phrase "'replacement' cover drives, i.e. the down-one-one-knee cut/stab shot". Just showing the covers can be hit into, not that a 'cover drive' as we know it is playable. Does anyone actually read what I put?!

    New Update Discussion

Well you can definitely hit into the covers with the new update! Just hit three of the 'replacement' cover drives, i.e. the down-on-one-knee cut/stab shot into the cover region the first two overs of batting. Decent. Two left-handers:

The batting explanation provided by @Ross does make sense actually. It is easier to hit shots in the direction of/through cover in the nets and training than in matches.@cricket_online "The avoidance of fielders is one of the biggest issues causing what would appear to be minimised shot...

...so that means their 'mentality' 100% controls their decisions then. In that case I'd like to see conservative batsmen being exactly that, or, ideally, a new mentality added - something like 'ultra-defensive' or 'blocker'. A lot of the time it seems like it's the last ball of the over...

Wealeys slider and skills playtest! OP updated with sliders!!

I've created a generic team that all have conservative or precise mentalities with 100 for defensive and 10 for attacking, highish ratings for drives, glances and sweeps and low for cuts, pulls and special shots, along with low strength; each player is 60 for their overall rating. I'm currently...

After playing this game at least 5/6 hours a day since it has been released I can categorically state that I like it. A lot. Yes, there are shortcomings as have been discussed elsewhere, but the bowling and gameplay modifiers are incredible. Granted, I enjoy the bowling side of things more so...

It was like I was playing on a much higher difficulty level. They were playing and missing a lot more, but never found the edge. I actually felt like I was watching England give away a test match. The sense of relief when the final wicket fell was immense!

Wealeys slider and skills playtest! OP updated with sliders!!

Sorry to hijack the thread (!) but I've just finished a test match and I was very surprised at just how engaged I was by it. I was a Dream XI against NZ and set it to amateur and medium for both batting and bowling (yes, I'm that bad!) just to get myself back into the swing of things. I smashed...

I think the best way to view ball and pitch bounce are by thinking of them as different pitch/balls types, e.g. A lower pitch bounce rating will act like very thick grass, but a very high one will act like concrete. Similarly, a lower ball bounce rating will mean the ball will act like a ball...
