If you’re referring to me, I am merely analyzing what made Dhoni succeed at his peak. Not calling for his return.
A captain who won world championships in T20, as well as World Cup and Champions trophy surely had done something right.
Dhoni was great and inspirational as captain in his early stint and during his winning streak. For India, his captaincy became somewhat predictable after 2014 but continues to be inspirational for CSK though.
The biggest thing about Dhoni was getting the most of his players. I remember the...
By that same @noducksallowed logic the team that tops the round robin table should be champs, and in fact have a better claim because they won most matches.
Bollocks. India were the best team in the tournament despite weaknesses. This Australian side looked vulnerable until the Final where they...
I am the merest spectator and casual fan and don’t know much about this sport from a technical perspective.
Bowlers win matches. In that perspective the semi final against NZ should have rung some alarm bells, that despite a huge total it was purely a late magic spell by Shami that won us the...
You say they outplayed us in every department and I agree. What is am asking is for analysis on why they outplayed us. It’s not like this Indian team was vastly inferior or in poor form to be outplayed the way they were. This is the team that beat Australia in the group stage after all.
Analyzing one‘s own failure should not be obnoxious to opposition fans. I am not making excuses for India’s loss but rather calling for introspection and analysis for future preparation. Big difference.
If this was India’s first or second or even third final or semifinal loss in all these years I can understand the point. But repeatedly losing at the big stage deserves to be analyzed dispassionately and logically without emotional bias.
No doubt Australia played brilliant cricket and hearty congrats to them but that shouldn’t deflect from analyzing our own failures. Calling every final or semifinal defeat as just a bad day and opposition played better cricket won’t help in the future.
I bet Australia doesn’t win big just by...
I don’t agree. For example the big boundary drought between overs 10 and 40 exposed a huge mindset weakness despite Rohit Sharma’s assertive captaincy.
Fear of failure was writ large on KL’s face through his innings. And Virat was also affected by KL’s role. Also after getting Australia 47/3...
As usual I am again seeing all those self congratulory commiserations for India’s performance. Seems that after initial public emotional disappointment we go back to being satisfied with the team by dismissing the final loss as “just a bad day” and back to celebrating individual records. I hope...
Do you think the Indian team will go back to the formula of foreign coaches? After all India actually started winning overseas Tests more consistently under the Ganguly / John Wright era and became mentally tougher in challenging conditions. And our World Cup triumph in 2011 and CT in 2013 were...
So the game is worth buying now? Just started again with c 19 after a while and enjoying it. But when bowling bouncers wk basically letting the ball go for 4 byes without moving. Is it still the case in 24?
