    English Domestic Cricket

2 4-day games abandoned without a ball being bowled, New Road in danger of flooding, all matches in the last round were drawn, all being heavily affected by the rain. Most of the country is at risk from flooding and most of the country still has a hosepipe ban... Not sure the WIndies guys are...

Codemasters shifts focus in favour of Racing

I wasn't talking about ICC at all, but anyways, as for the development, well for most of that period the development decisions weren't on us, it's only been 2010 and on that we've made the decisions, and we've progressed in that time, Mac, iPhone, Aus domestic amongst others. May not be at the...

    Tendulkar appointed as MP

Absolutely, AV wasn't right, PR is the way to go, but it was better than what we had. People got conned by the Tories and got told a stackful of lies.

    Cricketing Queries

Indeed, and there's good reason for that, the umpire has to know which hand you're bowling with, knowing where he's looking for the no-ball amongst others. Besides, you can't just bowl a surprise ball with the opposite hand, the batsman will be aware that you're bowling left handed very early on...

    Tendulkar appointed as MP

Indeedy. There was a case in of our recent elections where two contenders had equal votes, after a recount, etc. So how did they choose who got elected? They picked straws! I'd love to say: Welcome to democracy In response to this thread, but it'd be pure irony as our system is just as...

    Cricketing Queries

I've already pointed out the flaws in that, not least because I'd love to see a bowler try and bowl left handed. The switch hit has not been made illegal, KP got warned for time wasting because he changed grip/stance before Dilshan entered his delivery stride. It's an existing rule that was...

Codemasters shifts focus in favour of Racing

That's because there is no money in it, all well and good saying they've been of a poor standard (fair argument) but the project has to be self sustaining and quality/development isn't cheap, you can't continue to give a rats ass if you're losing money, it still has to be a sustainable business...

    English Domestic Cricket

Bell gets a duck at Hove, can't imagine batting is that easy though, delayed start, very wet couple of days and there's a breeze about. Bopara hit a ton the other day, I see. Morgan is completely out of the picture for England this season imo, more interested in the IPL than getting his place back.

I really want to see Onions get another chance, but don't see it happening without an injury to Anderson and one of Finn/Tremlett.

Onions got him for next to nothing in the 2nd as well. Not good. Compton on the other hand, another double ton, he's got ~900 runs in 5 matches this season...mind you, he did get 236 against Cardiff Uni. Don't see him replacing Strauss in any case for this season, though.

Duck for Strauss this morning, bowled by Onions. Though others struggling as well. Bit of a wet start to this round of matches!

England 'jealous of IPL' - Kevin Pietersen

Yeah, it was about 6C and overcast for that match when Magoffin grabbed those wickets.

England 'jealous of IPL' - Kevin Pietersen

This, it's still my team that can win matches/trophies, not some franchise. I switched it on the other day, it is on ITV4 (ooh, big channel!!!), horrific presentation, the cricket itself I could watch, but constant adverts, presenters who seem to know as much about cricket as Colin knows...

    English Domestic Cricket

Nice start against Lancs today, James Anyon picking up 5. Going to be a tough season for all concerned this, Notts struggling quite a bit with the bat so far, though early and cold April conditions play a factor there. I think our bowling will do okay this year, it's the batting that's the...

Graeme Swann vs Jim Laker and the legacy of English spinners

So you watched a lot of cricket in the 60s, did you?

    General Cricket Discussion

That's a good article and a fascinating dissection of the stats, pretty much backed up what I thought, that Steyn has the edge, but still good to see it going down to the different details. What a summer we have in store!

Graeme Swann vs Jim Laker and the legacy of English spinners

Always difficult, if not impossible, to compare players across generations, it's a completely different game now to what it was 15 years ago, let alone 50-60 years ago. He is an exceptional bowler, both technically and mentally. His rise still surprises me a bit, watching his rise through the...

England in Sri Lanka March-April 2011/12

I think the only conclusions you can draw is the top 4/5 teams are all very close and have their own strengths and weaknesses and there is no clear best team in the world. It doesn't help that we spent many years with Australia being the best team in the world by some distance, so people draw a...
