1001 Things You Love about Cricket

Ah yeh, I love abit of Winter Nets, got my first session tonight, canny wait :D

82. Getting new equipment. There's nothing better than ordering some new equipment and having it turn up at the door, then showing it off at nets, especially good with new bats and gloves. I love buying new equipment, I've got way too much stuff. I've got 4 pairs of gloves (2 pairs of Woodworm Premiers), 3 sets of pads (2 sets of Woodworm Premier's, bloody duplicate order that I couldn't be arsed to send back), 2 thigh pads, 3 bats (2 of them shite), am on my 2nd bag, and I need new spikes (will be buying the new Adidas bowling boots) and a new helmet, but they're abit too expensive to bother buying atm.
Let me guess that you got them because KP used* to use it?

*Wasn't woodworm going downhill and KP and Freddy were looking for another sponsor?

87. Middling the ball Did it for the first time in my life yesterday at the nets and it feels so good. I skipped down the track to a legspinner and hit him straight back over him head. Straight 6. Man it felt so good.

I bought the Woodworm gloves because KP used them, but they turned out awesome. Then when I went into the local cricket store, they had a Woodworm Hard-Drive, so I gave it a test, played a few shots with it and loved it. The weight and pick-up is briliant, so that's why I bought that.

And yeh, Woodworm have gone down the pan pretty much. They've been bought out by some random company (SportsHQ irrc) and are now selling the gear for ridiculously cheap. They also plan on releasing a new range of kit either this year or next, the bat stickers are very cool. Here's a pic:

KP's now with Adidas (their stuff is ridiculously expensive, well their bat's are anyway, top of the range one RRP's at over ?300), I've got an Adidas thigh pad, and it's decent enough, was only a tenner as well. Not going to be buying an Adidas bat though, even if KP uses one. Although I might be tempted if the prices come down :p. Fred's now with Slazenger.

I think you should by an Incurza or Slaz I-Blade, used by Ian Bell :p

91. Six hit hundreds. Great to see a batsman slogging the ball in the 90's to bring up a hundred.

93. Failed Six Hit Hundreds. Hilarious seeing Kp and Sarwan going for it and failing miserably, if not very annoying when it was KP. :p

How long have you been playing? You only hit the middle of the bat for the first time recently? I thought I was a crap batsman :p

Well, I've been playing for about 3 Years with a Cricket ball, I probably have midled the ball a few times before but when I hit the ball yesterday, I felt like I was in 7th Heaven. Now I know why players like Afridi, Yuvraj and Sehwag have this urge to whack the ball and middle it, It's so god damn addictive.

I've been playing about the same time, and that was without playing any form of cricket before that, going straight in to hard ball cricket, and I generally find the middle of the bat on a alot of ocassions when in the nets. I've got a good cut shot, and generally hit the ball out of the middle playing that shot, and once I'm settled I've got a very good straight/on drive, which I tend to middle the majority of times I play it. It does feel good really getting hold of one though, just hearing the ping off the bat is fantastic.

Wow, you've played for 3 years and it's the first time you've ever middled a ball Leggie? I'm shocked.
