I explained very well why I think Chennai shouldn't get a franchise. Incomplete and unfit stadium. Political issues preventing Sri Lankan players from participating. If these two are sorted out, then by all means have a Chennai team. But these are only my concerns, that do not apply in the real world

I think that CSK deserve a franchise, just one where India cement have no role in the team in any way.

They new franchise could even retain Super Kings name if they want, to keep the fanbase intact.

Either ways its a step in the right direction for the complete disolvement of both teams since the RR and CSK names will always have a ring of corruption.

Seems like there will be no termination. BCCI can terminate franchises - Lodha | Cricket | ESPN Cricinfo

Other BCCI officials, too, have over the past two days been reluctant to entertain thoughts of termination.

"The Lodha Committee has clearly said what has to be done," a BCCI official said. "We will abide by it. But, I don't think we will terminate CSK and RR. We will strictly follow what the Lodha report has said."

I thought the Panel said "chennai super kings" cannot operate for two years right ? or was it India cements that cannot operate for two years? If its the first, then maybe retaining the name wouldnt work, right?

So the BCCI, who the head of has some form of ownership in CSK, have the option to ban the teams... Once again, clearly no conflicts of interest.

Dhoni is the IPL's biggest brand by a distance, and there is a strong belief that if CSK are forced to stay out of IPL for the next two seasons, the captain might choose to stay away from the tournament altogether.

Seriously, why would Dhoni quit IPL if CSK doesnt play for two years ? Makes no sense.

If Dhoni was 26 I would think it was possible, but at 34 he doesn't have that option.

And rightly so. I dont see why he would deprive his fans of his game just because he might be forced to play for a different franchise. He would probably enjoy the challenge.

In fact it would be so cool to see him play for an IPL side which he doesn't captain. Where the team sends him at no.3 or even as an opener to wreck havoc on the oppositon

Last I checked Srini was the chairman of the ICC, which works in cahoots with BCCI.

Last I checked Srini was the MD of India Cements. India Cements owner of CSK.
