Report: KKR won the toss and despite being pegged back to their lowest 1st innings total when these two sides last met they still decided to bat first. This time around the story followed a similar script with more brilliance from the KXIP bowlers. They skittled out the KKR for only 90, their lowest total in the season and put themselves in a commanding position to chase the total down.
KXIP began well in the chase going to 22 when they lost their first wicket and at 33 for 2 the odds would have been on a comfortable win for the home side. KKR had other things in mind and they began finding the right channels, and Ghambir made all the right moves with his bowlers, the game tilted in the favour of KKR with KXIP being 48/7. Shakib played a great hand in this picking up 2 wickets with his first two balls and then a wicket on the hatrick ball only for the umpire to turn it down.
M Singh and M Kartik then played some breathtaking counter attacking stroke play and added 36 for the 8th wicket, and in the context of this low scoring game that was perhaps enough to prove to be a match winning partnership. KXIP were 84 for 7 from 13 overs with only 7 to get and 3 wickets in hand, the home fans were seen dancing in the stands celebrating what seemed like a inevitable victory against the in form KKR.
In came S Yadav into the attack to bowl his medium pace, a surprise move from Ghambir, as he still had 2 overs each from Cummins and Russel and the game could well be finished in this over. It turned out to be just the perfect move with Yadav pitching up a yorker close to 80mph to surprise M Singh and clean bowl him.
So 7 still needed, now with 2 wickets in hand, KXIP manage to get 5 of those from Yadav and go in to the 15th over with only 2 needed. Ghambir goes to his key man Cummins who was not used since the 4th over, this helped him really build up the heat with a 97mph yorker just missing leg stump in the first delivery. The 2nd delivery was on target though, a yorker at 96mph sending Kartick's middle stump cart wheeling.
2 to get, 1 wicket in hand, more than 5 overs to get them, in comes Awana, manages to squeeze another Cummins yorker to mid on and set off for a run, but S Yadav takes a shy at the stumps and hit's with Awana just short of his ground. Game over, KKR win by 1 run.
A fantastic encounter between 2 of the top sides of this years IPL. KKR keep their undefeated streak in tact but only just. KXIP will feel they should have gone all the way from 84/7 and perhaps deserved too with some brilliant cricket from them.
----------
Game going on now, between RCB (Chaman82) and KXIP. (Kushari)
Rameez: This will be an fascinating game. RCB have won 3 on the bounce now and look in fine form. KXIP will want to get another win under their belts here to strengthen their chances of finishing in the top 4.
RCB win the toss and decide to bat first. (Updates after every 5 overs)
5.0: And that is the first 5 overs complete, KXIP are on top here, they have taken 4 wickets from the dangerous RCB batting line up. Can they keep up the momentum? We will have to wait and see, so after 5 RCB are 38/4.
10.0: It's the half way mark of the RCB innings and we have a strategic time out. KXIP have kept things in check here and picked up another 2 wickets. RCB are 58/6 with much to do. Once again the KXIP bowlers are producing some excellent Cricket just as they did against KKR skittling them out for only 90, can they do even better tonight? 58/6
11.0: Another tidy over, only 3 from it. RCB need to build a partnership here and take things to the last 5 before trying to push the accelerator. 61/6
Guys I don't have the scores for this game.
