Yup. Was expecting something like this. We really let go after losing our 2nd wicket. South Africa was always going to be ahead of us considering their form and Rudi Struwig made sure to demonstrate why he is the no. 1 ODI bowler. August Eklund should have taken charge when South Africa were into our tail. Need to find a lower-order batter soon for matches like this.

India will feel shortchanged a good 30/40 runs considering their standing at the 40-overs mark, but a remarkable come back from the South African bowlers kept India down to a chaseable total for their batters. Commanding fifties from Vijay Kambli, Varun Muzumdar, Mithun Parag and Vikas Samant, but no batter could convert that into a hundred.
For South Africa, Pierre Struwig and Fanie Steyn were quite effective on a pitch not conducive to bowling in the slightest, bagging 3 wickets each. While their captain Rudi Struwig, the leading-wicket taker of the tournament, went wicketless and conceded 55 runs in his 10.0 overs.
