2011 World Cup Pre-Event Discussion

I expect atleast one 400+ score this worldcup, especially if they prepare flats pitches in India for the games.

When we had one in the 2007 WC, there is no doubt that this WC will also give 400+ scores(s). :)

Instead of this so called 10 teams broke ass World Cup, what if ICC became more like MLB. They would manage series all year long between teams. And then Semi Final series and Final series/ World Cup Final Series. We won't be seeing empty seats, every match will matter. We we wont be complaining about all these useless series, or same teams playing each other over and over again all year long, and cricketers will get breaks and more room for IPL and stuff.

Only test matches will be played in series arranged by the boards. And if we really want a World Cup they could do that with T20.

i believe that India will win this edition of the world cup. There combinaiton of aggressive entertaining young players eg. R.Sharma, M.Vijay and I.Sharma mixed with mature veterans who are still at the very top of their game. Expect Sachin and Sehwag to fire:yes

Rohit Sharma plays like a forty-year old guy in 50-over matches.

It is time to renew this thread once again. It went dead for some time. But seeing as everyone's is quite enthusiastic about their World Cup squads, lets continue the discussions here.

bangladesh gonna make 2 upsets where zimbabwe can make 1 upset as well.
bangaladesh spinners are doing great atm.
my semifinalist

or maybe bangladesh.

more fun will be whn china wins the world cup sometime in 2030.

Bangladesh are in a tough group. Their only advantage is that they are playing all their matches at home. I say its tough for them to qualify even for the quarter-final stages.

The other group is relatively an easier one. Expecting Zimbabwe to crash NZ' party if their woeful form continues.

I guess the former captains are trying to place too much pressure on India by calling them "runaway favorites". Its after a long time that a home team looks more favorable to win the title, but lets not get carried away because India's bowling doesnt inspire great confidence, and we are known to be vulnerable under huge expectations.

Because that's not how International Sports work. A season-based ICC-dominated schedule would destroy the way cricket is played and will milk the international teams into a franchise system. We have the IPL for that. It works for cities and franchises and brands. MLB, NFL, EPL, NBA, IPL works like that. Nation vs. Nation does not.
