2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup - India (UAE/Oman)

This will be Kohli's tournament, you heard it first. Even though he is out of form for too long now, he will kill this tournament. Smart decision by the management to retire Kishan and try the middle order. The score looks gettable. Ashwin bowled brilliantly today. He will be crucial.

@wasteyouryouth mate any plans for releasing the WT20 kits for Cricket 19?

Oops wrong thread. :D
A request would be to make the Indian kit with the ultramarine blue...

A convincing win, without Rohit is an achievement but now the question is how will you drop Kishan, what will you say to someone who wasn't even dismissed to not feature in the 11?

Could Ishan play ahead of SKY?

There is one more warmup game for India. Lets see how that goes. Right now, Ishan has the leg up over Surya, but Surya can bat anywhere whereas I believe Ishan's returns are optimized in the top order?

Exactly what I'm thinking, why did they play him even though Kohli bluntly said at the toss that they've finalized the openers and three? In this case he should've played four or five to be in contention to replace Surya, these people keep on making me scratch my head.

This is exactly the reason we have 0 ICC trophies in the last 8 years. This is exactly why I am excited for someone like Rahul Dravid taking incharge. He can help with man management. We need a stable XI but what do we always get in tournaments like these? Experimental XI. The experiments need to happen before the tournament.

This should be our lineup and barring injury or someone playing really bad.

  1. KL Rahul
  2. R Sharma
  3. V Kohli
  4. SK Yadav
  5. R Pant
  6. H Pandya
  7. R Jadeja
  8. R Ashwin
  9. S Thakur
  10. M Shami
  11. J Bumrah
I see we have not taken M Siraj who is in sensational form :clap. I know Bhuvi's experience matters but he is way past his prime and there are better bowlers in Indian unit right now. I mean I know they will play Bhuvi over Thakur.

Man to man comes in play here where if KL, Rohit or Pant get injured, Kishan steps in. If Ashwin and Bhuvi leak runs, Thakur and Varun comes in. I am not too sure about Chahar for now. If Pandya is not bowling and he bats horribly, Ishan can come in as well.

I remember experiments happening during the England series earlier this year and everyone was complaining that India weren't picking their strongest XI.

Hardik looks totally out of nick. In those 10 balls he faced today, he couldn't time even one of them well, it just looks like his shaky IPL form might just be transferring over here. If Hardik ain't gonna bowl Kishan might as well come in the middle order or play as a finisher. As he's in form, he capable of doing either. And this time around, think it's best to shy away from playing musical chairs with the #4 spot just like CWC19/prior to that. SKY has been the most obvious name to consistently play there without a doubt, there shouldn't be a Kishan/SKY fight for the #4 spot.

Bhuvi hasn't been the same since prior to his injury. Used to bowl 140 kmph with a lethal slower ball, now he's too far predictable with less pace. Plus you've got Lord on the bench and he can whack a few at the backend too and makes timely breakthroughs. More inclined to playing him as third seamer over Bhuvi.

I don't think it would be a wise move to play him as a finisher considering that he does well in the top order as compared to the lower middle order. I don't believe that Kishan can play at his best anywhere below 4. MI did try him at 5 in 2018 IPL and the returns were not as good.

Edit: It was Gujarat Lions in 2017 IPL who played Ishan Kishan at 5. He averaged just about 27 with just 1 half century at a not so good SR of 134.
