2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup - India (UAE/Oman)

Lanka has really made England work for it.. sure they're giving away easy wickets, but I'm very impressed with their aggressive play
I do think they've got a lot of potential. I like their intent. Hopefully they don't do something silly like sack Mickey Arthur. They look much better than they did this summer. Conditions might not favour them as much as the UAE, but Australia 2022 could be a chance to do better.

Crucial match for South Africa. I want to see them qualify for Semi's compared to other teams in the group barring England. England vs New Zealand and South Africa vs Pakistan would setup nice semi-finals.

Can see Pakistan crushing Namibia easily. So no point expecting anything else.

While all seem to be pointing towards a potential Pak v Eng final, I am keen on understanding the other 2 teams who will join in the KO stage.

It would be really interesting to see a final match-up between SA v Afg, but both seem to have a lot of work to do here. Not ruling it out, would be very interesting if these teams, on their day can topple either of the top two seeds. NZ has a great chance to waltz through- unfortunately, we wont be having a repeat of NZ v ENG from 2019, but would mind these 2 clashing in the semis- with NZ eventually taking the Cup in the final...Ahh well! the interesting phase has just begun!

It's like you've never followed Pakistan cricket

The Disaster was supposed to happen the way the whole tournament build up was for India.

Right From Poor Selection - Have been telling since its selection the squad looks thin specially in bowling.

Picking Bhuvi ahead of both Siraj and Chahar an outright blunder, not Just IPL the latter two have been doing well since last year or so.

Ashwin getting picked out of nowhere is a big backward step as well should have kept Chahal atleast in the reserves if wanted an experienced spinner.

Rift in the team - Surely there is , remember reading an article in the news about few senior Players complained about Kohli after the England Tour thought it was hoax but there might be more to it.
All solid points !!

And I would like to point out one more obvious issue and place a lot of blame squarely of Ganguly and Shah Jr's shoulders - the IPL Part 2 being squeezed in did our team no favours. It has directly impacted our performance in the World Cup. This 1 month could have been used for recuperating, refreshing followed by a proper pre-world cup camp.

Expecting players to drop out of IPL is a bit unfair - it is like asking employees to forgo bonus for working overtime, when the blame should be on the management to plan better instead of making overtime so lucrative (and almost mandatory).

The amount of Indian post-portem here might qualify to make it into a separate thread altogether :p

Tournament going extremely well so far. England on top form, the convicts were given a beating and India unlikely to make the semi-finals.

There's a noticeable difference. Remember how energised the team were this summer, funnily enough they'd all had a month long holiday. They've had Australia, bubble for England at home, IPL PT 1, straight to the WTC, England series, IPL PT 2 and now a World Cup, then a series with NZ straight after.

They're only human, something has to give. Same with the ECB. It's the boards to blame not the players.

I was hoping for some Rashid Khan magic in 2019 World Cup to see him get smashed for 13 sixes by Eoin Morgan. So believe on this at your own risk.

And it's necessary to include something in this post-

If Surya is fine now then he should come into the XI . Would always chose him over Kishan if a choice is to be made ....
If he isn't, I prefer bringing in Iyer from the waiting list and have him bat at no.4
