Everyone forgets Finch
Turns out 2022 has had the best World Cups of all time (women's ODI and men's T20i). Hopefully they come round more often (good tournaments, not ICC tournaments, they're relentless).
Stats: A struggle for boundaries, a tournament of upsets, and England's pace highs
All the key numbers from the T20 World Cup in Australia, where ball trumped bat, and the Associate nations had a saywww.espncricinfo.com
The 2007 T20 WC had the highest batting run rate and lowest balls per boundary
The century in the opening match by Chris Gayle just endorsed the whole world that this format is all about the blitz and hits. WI easily making 200 and then SA chasing it down with more than 2 overs to spare made it a format where nothing is impossible.I do remember it being very entertaining to watch. Even the IPL next year was slightly boring in contrast.

It was a perfect opener to the first ever World T20.
Hope you feel better soon buddy. Not in the best of health this week so I can't type a long paragraph but I just want to sum up the performance of the team I've supported over the years.
As an Indian fan, I've followed almost every game since 2012 WT20 upto the Covid times. So everything is just so etched in me as an Indian supporter. I do tend to get emotional at times regarding how they play. So maybe somewhere I just overexpect or tend to get overexcited at times and claim India as being the contenders every time an ICC event that comes up.
Maybe we do have the strength but we just lack that balance which other teams have or maybe we just lack enough passion. So yes, I am extremely disappointed with India's manner of exit in this tournament but I think they still punched a bit above their weight with the bowling line-up they carried with them.
For Rohit's Captaincy, I don't have the numbers to back him but I guess he did better than most in this WT20 and I don't have anything to point out at. But his reactions have lost me as his fan for sure!
I would also like to appreciate England for winning the Final against Pakistan. It makes me wonder how much strength they possess in their white ball unit. Just 3 months before the tournament started, their Captain had retired! Then Stokes followed with his own and came back. Buttler's Captaincy was all over the place and there were questions over his leadership. The bowling looked toothless. Mark Wood suddenly found form, Hales was brought back and there was so much happening. This was followed with a loss to Ireland and a wash out against Australia. After all of this, I can say they surely deserved to win!!
I was hoping the 'perfect opener' bit was highlighted because it was a link to KL Rahul's Cricinfo page. The century in the opening match by Chris Gayle just endorsed the whole world that this format is all about the blitz and hits.
