Haven’t watched the powerplay but it seems they’re going at a decent rate. It’ll all be for naught if they get bogged down in the middle overs but this is a promising start.

Kinda think you’re stretching out there with some of the accusations here to be honest.
I am not, he said he was generalizing and called people in one of the India's major city uneducated just because he has a problem with Jai Shree Ram chants being chanted in the stadium, he said it was a political rally and everyone has a problem with Jai Shree Chants in the stadium but no body has a problem when the god changes and becomes Ganpati? Its bullshit!

Stop generalizing cities and crowds. If heckling was something that was mentioned, I would have happily supported as Rizwan did get heckled but hey what, 2017 we got heckled. Is the London crowd uneducated? Oh no mate.. it cannot be uneducated as thats the land of British, we only call those uneducated who we do not like.

Anyways ending this discussion here as everyone likes to live in a "WOKE" world. So be it.

This kind of Powerplay batting doesn’t win you any trophies in 2023
I think they have done fantastically well knowing you have Babar, Rizwan and Ifti to go bang bang. Not losing wicket and 100 runs shaved off in 15 overs is amazing.

I can assure you in the last 13 years alone there's plenty of proof that British people are stupid.

Australia fielding: FUBAR :(

I didn’t see any reference to the Ahmedabad crowd being called uneducated or there being an issue with the religious chants from him though which is why I said you were stretching a bit. I find the whole “knowledgeable Chennai crowd” shtick incredibly grating from my perspective as a native since we have our fair share of idiots here and I was facepalming when Doull made a reference to that in today’s game.

There is a difference between those two chants beyond the mere swapping of godly figures given the intent behind them. It’s classic weaponising of a fairly innocuous cultural thing to mean something more in a wider context, I’m pretty sure you’d be aware of it given the American right wing culture’s numerous attempts at it including them turning Christmas and New Year greetings into a political thing.

They were also showing Say and his daddy numerous times on live TV being in the crowd. The stadium is named after an active political figure. There was a special programme before the game which wasn’t even done for the opening fixture. Some of the audience reactions did not feel natural either. It was designed as political showpiece alongside being a sporting event, I’m not sure why you would dispute that when it’s an open secret here. I’d rather not resort to a lower level from others to justify poor behaviour either but that’s just me. At the end of the day though what’s happened has happened and I don’t think anybody has real issues after it, it’s just funny that Gambhir is playing both sides here for some reason.

I don’t know what ‘WOKE’ means either so I suppose we could end this discussion here? :p

Does feel pretty stupid to appoint the third best pacer in the team captaincy when he didn't want it in the first place doesn't it. Feel like he would be dropped next game if he wasn't the skipper

Who do you bring in though? Feels like they solved the conundrum by not selecting a second spinner, much like India avoided the Dhoni problem in 2019 by not properly developing an alternative to him.

Pakistan is winning this!

Would Marsh have been the next choice after Cummins? Or is it Smith?

This just seals his place doesn’t it?
