Babar Azam speaks first: "We had a good total, but in bowling, we were not up to the mark because we weren't taking wickets in the middle overs. In a World Cup, if you are not good even in one department, you lose. We started well while bowling, but we couldn't take wickets. All credit to Afghanistan. We are not playing good cricket, [especially] in bowling and fielding. The pitch was helping the spinners even in the second innings. There was no pressure on their batsmen."
I have a problem with above. You know who lost the match for Pakistan? Babar "King/Brand" Azam. So he should take the blame on himself saying I was not enough for my team and we lost.
- Babar as a batsman scored 74 in 92 deliveries that is horrendous and slow. The last 12 runs came in 5 deliveries so he technically scored 62 in 87 deliveries. Poor performance despite stat padding at best as that is what he does and I am glad a lot of people are seeing that.
- Babar as a captain - HORRENDOUS, he even makes Andrew Flintoff who I considered as one of the worst captain of all time or Sachin Tendulkar who too was as close to being worst as Flintoff look good. His bowling decisions, his squad selections, his team selections all look bleek. Afghanistan were really struggling when they lost the second wicket and he dint bring his A gun out.
- Babar as a leader - Matches after matches, all he has done is blamed others. He has never ever took responsibility as a leader that I did not do well. He always throws the team under the bus. That is not a sign of a leader.
- Babar as brand - He has gone into brand too much. I saw Shoaib's recent video and he is absolutely spot on, you become a brand when you have a great institution built on, he has neither. There is too much false positivity around him and as a batsman.
There will be no pressure on batsman if you dont have the right bowlers bowling.
I am sorry for Pakistani fans who years after years have this "HOPE" that our team is good but at best they are always mediocre as players like Babar make it more about them then the team. I am sure many players from the current XI wont even feature post the WC. Shadab looks cooked and is only good for Franchise Cricket.
Imam does well in parts but does not ever give me vibe of being an international cricketer. Plus his fitness is a question.
I had mentioned when Pakistan won the T20 against India 2 years ago that the stat padders will hurt Pakistan in long run and my saying was just proved to be true. Whenever Pakistan cricket team is brought up, its all about Babar, Rizwan and Afridi, they dont want others to grow or the attention on the three is so much that others are not motivated to do anything great.
