It is the most beautiful sport on Earth, and the fans of its historically most dominant team don’t even give a shit about anything apart from the Ashes. Cricket is so unfair

Does UAE qualify if the matches move to UAE? They should revolt if they dont!
Nope. Associates don't have direct entry even if they are the hosts. Case in point ICC Knockout 1998 where the entrie event was hosted in Bangladesh without them participating in it. Even the next World Cup to be jointly hosted by SA, Zimbabwe and Namibia doesn't have Namibian as a direct qualifier.

Unless it's the United States

They're co-hosting the T20 World Cup and got automatic qualification.
Exactly was going to be my thought but then again US is T20 member and not an associate technically whereas Namibia would be an associate with it not having member status. Wouldnt it?

That's farcical- I believe they recognize the USA as an important and upcoming cricket market. w.r.t the media rights. This makes a compelling case to include them in directly. With Namibia, it is quite shocking that they wouldn't be granted direct access. I still believe that the ICC will make last minute changes and get them qualified.

In 1999, when Jagmohan Dalmiya helmed the ICC, he had a vision for expanding the game beyond its traditional borders. There was a concentrated effort to grant the ICC KO to Kenya in 2000 and efforts were on to ensure that Canada and Disneyland(USA) could host some games/ KO. That plan fell through. Even when he was at the BCCI post his stint, we did try to play in newer nations like Canada and Malaysia.

Honestly feel that the ICC needs to come up with a rotational system for determining World Cup hosts. It would certainly be interesting to have cricket World Cup matches at modified football stadiums in say Brazil/Argentina. But then again, the hosts should get direct entry.

Namibia has ODI status. I don't know how many matches they are likely to host in the World Cup anyway. I'd expect the majority would be South Africa and Zimbabwe. A bit like the 1999 World Cup had matches in Scotland, Ireland and Netherlands but England were the hosts.

I think, like @icyman, says it's purely down to the fact they see the US as big market to crack. Having a tournament there without the hosts would mean it registers very little interest beyond existing cricket lovers.

Its unfair for Namibia to be honest. Some rules in cricket makes no sense at all

13 matches and 40 wickets only 4 behind tying Zaks 44 record for world cup, how the fearsome tweak we keep not starting Shami. Once Hardik is back, play him for Iyer, dont change the bowling lineup.

I get the feeling Iyer will be persisted with against SRL, due to his spin playing abilities. If he doesn't strike gold, expect a change with SKY coming in. Akin to Raina replacing Yusuf in 2011?

Hardik will be back for Semi’s so expect Kishan to come in for Iyer and Sky plays. Kishan gives that left hand combination as well.
