It just sucks.
I’m hoping to go to India someday with my non-Pakistani passport, but it’s far from assured that i ever will.
I don’t think Pakistan has a reciprocal policy for Indian-origin people like this one. The visa fee for Indian nationals is also just 15 rupees.
With the relations of Canada and India on the rocks and having a Pakistani origin, I don't think I'll ever be approved for an India visa

Ok, maybe that was a bit harsh. He still is absolute dogsh*t in the powerplay (9 wkts, eco 6.75, avg 62.33), so he isn't exactly a good replacement for Naseem. Maybe he can be a good asset in the middle and at the death, but we have Haris Rauf for exactly the same job.

As for potential other replacements, I don't think Zaman Khan can fill the Naseem role either in the powerplay. There is no really perfect solution to replace a player like that. I don't really have those kind of advanced stats for the domestic One Day Cup, but what PCB should have done is looked at who had the best powerplay record there and used that as a big factor in selection.

I could be wrong, because I'm not exactly an expert on Mohammad Wasim Jr, but... surely Shaheen and Wasim could take the bulk of the PP overs?

So based on all things I am reading Pakistan does not have one good fast bowler who could replace Naseem? I thought you guys were the gold mine of fast bowlers. Am I misinterpreting?

Three of their best five are hurt.

I think they have a lot of quicks who WILL be good - Zaman, Shahnawaz, etc* - but they're still developing. From what the tweet says, PCB don't want to throw two youngsters to the World Cup fire - obviously Wasim Jr is 22.

* Dilbar Hussain's mustache not included in etc

He's one of the leading bowlers in all power plays. Just replacing a star bowler isn't easy.

England have been desperate to get Archer in the squad.

Hasnain and Ihsanullah injured, they were the best replacements. Zaman is more of replacement of Rauf, hence he's only in the reserves.

I would have Rauf in the Powerplay, but that would require Shadab and Nawaz to step up more in the middle overs.

This is sorta the price you pay when you don’t play ODIs as much as others and also try to play your main team as much as possible. They’ve still got options and have played fourteen pacers since the last WC but those fall into three categories other than the successful ones…

  • Probably washed up or retired; see Amir, Wahab and maybe Shinwari.

  • Got their chance on the back of a strong run of domestic games or because they fulfilled something the side lacked but failed to step up in the limited opportunities they’ve had. Examples are Musa, Ihsanullah, Dahani.

  • The ones who should be the mainstays or at least experienced backups at their peak. This includes the likes of Faheem, Hasan and if you’re willing to excuse the experience part, Hasnain.

He just hasn't really been tested in that period, really. Only 4 of his 24 wickets have been in the powerplay. Obviously a big part of that is that Naseem and Shaheen have been hogging the new ball (quite rightfully). So Wasim could bowl in the PP, but there's no guarantee he is better at it than Hasan. Wasim playing probably also means Hasan misses out btw.

I think Rauf needs to be a lock-in in the middle overs, it's probably the best utilization of him. As you said, I don't think the spinners can hold both throughout the bulk of the middle

So basically how I play Cricket Captain.
Fortunately, real cricket is not played by me on Cricket Captain, otherwise Australia would lose to Bangladesh every World Cup.

I mean, I'd start Rauf, Shaheen and Wasim

Nawaz is decent option for a few overs of spin in the powerplay too.
