The warm-ups are meh. People just going out to have some fun. No real significance here. The original reason why the warm-ups were introduced was due to an ICC regulation that prevented member nations from playing each other 45 days prior to the main event.

This ensured that the hype around the mega event remained intact. It kind of went down in 2015 when the Big 3 contested the tri-series in Australia and ever since other countries too have been scheduling games during the said time. Teams don't need these nowadays, perhaps the ICC can do away with it for the forthcoming 2024 edition.
