Haha yeah, now if the pattern is true, expect another thrashing tomorrow with Deccan solidifying their spot in the Super 8s.

As expected big game = McCullum failure. Gutless performance all round.

McCullum has really gone down hill, He was probably the best keeper around this time last year but now his probably the worst. I cant think of one innings his played well since that IPL Knock

His too confused with IPL playing style.. Just play normal cricket like you did before!!

I think dropping him is the best thing we can do for him right now even though we don't have a suitable replacement at this time. Get Young in for the test matches and McGlashan in for OD cricket. Once he sorts himself out he will walk back into the team he has talent hes just not using it.

lol at Otago. They're pathetic. Even Canterbury would have made a better showing.

Butler is soft, going out of the attack after being belted by Taylor. He could have finished his last 3 balls.

So much for Howsie saying this was the best bowling attack.

McCullum isn't a good enough batsman to play as specialist batsman. He has to take the gloves as well. He's a good batsman for a wicket keeper, there aren't many better, lets face it, we're spoiled these days. I don't think you can drop him or whatever based on playing for Otago in this champion's league. He's still our best keeper, I just feel he should be sent back down the order. This opening thing isn't working out. Only when the pressure is off (baring that IPL innings I guess) does he score big opening for NZ. He still doesn't have a hundred except against a minnow. Now we have Guptill and Ryder (well when fit, otherwise Redmond I guess) who can open and McCullum can go down the order and focus on keeping and finishing the innings off.

Oh and Taylor, he's fantastic. What an onslaught. Kallis batted through, what a great innings that was. Kallis with the ball oo. All-Round that's one of the best T20 performances ever.

I'm glad Taylor's side made it because Taylor's a better player by miles than anyone in the Otago side. I'd much rather watch Taylor over the lot of them.

McCullum should just be set as a keeper and bat at 6-7. Even though he was succesful before because of others like McMillan, Fleming, Cairns etc. He could just come in and blaze away but now since New Zealand's batting is really woeful and his one of the seniors he feels he needs to step up and score a 6 every ball.

He now needs to get the IPL out of his head and do a big favour to himself and not go to the IPL next season, but we all know that isnt going to happen

I reckon part of the problem is he thinks hes better than he really is. About 6 months ago he was talking about how he wanted to be the best batsman/keeper in the game - News Flash hes not.

He will be the sort of person who will only average around 30 in ODI's with a high strike rate and probably mid 30's in test matches which for a keeper is fine.

I just feel he needs to be taken down off his high horse for a moment hence my call for him to be dropped for a series. He should get back to playing some proper cricket for Otago get some good runs then come back to the Blackcaps as himself not trying to play as someone he isn't.

Bingo. Drop him for McGlashan in the one day team and bring in Recce Young for the two test matches against Pakistan, it will never happen but it's the kick up the bum McCullum needs. He needs to go and play some first class cricket and rack up some big runs.

As for Otago, well.....

I haven't seen the highlights but I'm guessing the bowling was just as bad as it was against the Cobra's, I still have no idea why they didn't play James McMillian as he's a very good bowler at the death. Still it's not like any other team from New Zealand would have done any better, Otago were far and away the best 20/20 team all season last year.

He now needs to get the IPL out of his head happen

I felt he never got out of the T20 mentality when he hit the six of Mohm Amer in the Champs Trophy semi final. It was the 2nd ball of the innings.

and do a big favour to himself and not go to the IPL next season, but we all know that isnt going to

LOL, Shah Rukh Khan won't let him do that :p

That's more like the Kallis we saw in the IPL, no idea where he learnt how to score so quick but its really added another dimension to his game. Otago were dreadful all round, nothing in the bowling or batting.
