A Decade At A Close - what has been the best innings of the last ten years?

Virender Sehwag's 293 against Sri Lanka at Mumbai and 319 against South Africa at Chennai.
Both of them came quicker than a run a ball which makes me select them as the best.

I would not go for his 309 against Pakistan at Multan or Lara's 400 against England as they were a bit boring.
Sehwag's 309 was not slow if compared to a test match innings, but he himself rates it as a slow innings and we all know the reason for it.:)

I would also put Laras 501* as a really good innings. It didn't come in a international match but it takes determination to score 400* and 501*.

This is what Twenty20 does to Indians, for those wondering.

We Indians?:sarcasm
Well, dont go on the nation.

And entertainment means boundaries or wickets. Lara could not entertain in his long innings as Sehwag could. Everyone admits it!

To be fair, I found Lara's 400 a dull exhibition in how useless the pitch and England's bowling was, mixed in with flashes of genius, elegance and cheekiness.

Was an incredible effort nevertheless.

How many people here actually watched the 400? Boring as watching paint dry. Crap bowling, obviously great batting but a total borefest.

Thank you. FFS, you're like the only other person who thinks it was boring.

I have to say, a lot of people on this forum seem to only look at scorecards and make a judgement, rather than an informed view as a result of watching the actual match. The 375 wasnt that exciting either. The 277 was bloody great strokeplay.

The other thing too is, the 400 match wasnt even shown on tv here in Australia, the whole series wasnt shown.

Yeah, I've seen videos and that was a classy knock, against a pretty good bowling attack.
