Well hello there, Skyblue. I wondered how long it'd take you to show your face here. First post and lo and behold - an insult aimed at me. You must be a very sad little man to sign up to a forum just to insult a particular member.

Well nice to see you are in good form - I'm not here to insult you and to be honest you shouldn't let yourself get paranoid about these things. I joined the forum in 2003 because I'm interested in cricket games.

I'm really not here now to offend you by the way - I was just trying to make you laugh. I mean you are a computer and boxing fan so I'm just having a little fun with you. But no offence intended - I know you put a lot of effort into your posts and I hope you are still enjoying ashes 09, it's just that i think you are quite misty eyed about the game but i won't reopen old wounds.

I wouldn't say misty eyed - but having to deal with various PC games over the years has endowed me with a vast reservoir of patience, whether that's getting hold of mods/patches to make a game playable, or to alter my style to accomodate a game to make it better. I stand by what I said though, when the P.C. mods start rolling in, the game will be so much better. These mods/patches actually made the AI in BLIC 2007 (yes) a lot more realistic. You, being a console gamer, haven't been able to build up said amount of patience, since you just play and go - the way it should be of course.

Reading the opening post, and not much else of this thread, I'd say its again a personal thing. The one comment about keepers is pretty silly, as far as I'm aware, they're pretty realistic in what they can do.

It is very easy to start an argument with someone over a forum, much easier than in real life. Maybe in the future, if we disagree with a fellow poster, and it looks like flaring into something unnecessary, then backing off and dropping the subject would be best.

Yes, I joined my local club after being dissatisfied with this game but left because there were too many run-outs and the bounce of the ball was all wrong!

No cricket game has ever got the bowling right, the positive about this game is that you can actually get wickets (excluding run out bug). In C07 the only mode of dismissal I was getting was caught at leg slip.

The batting is the best of the cricket games I've played, its good that shots aren't wasted by going straight to the field and chasing wide ones can get your caught behind like in real life.

Companies often do that - there was an article about it in PC Gamer.

Yes I know they do it , but one thing to remmeber is that they never do it in ideal situations.Only when they are not able to compile a bug free game before a special date.

i wouldn't say it blows. I don't like people who are determined to only focus on the negatives or folk here who are insistent it doesn't have any gamebreaking flaws. Read the original post people! As for potential... I just hope someone who makes the games will read something someone says and take the advice on to the next game, because we all want a playable, realisitc, fun, bug free (yes, they DO exist and we should expect this as standard) game.

Bowling the best you can in the game (the wrong way) doesn't stop the AI blocking in the final over of 20/20! well said.

Hardly gamebreaking? One of the best sights in cricket is a brilliant delivery which clips the top of off... If that can't happen then the game is missing a MASSIVE part of cricket, which I call a gamebreaker.exactly. some people are willing to overlook or put up with this. good for them. it doesn't change the fact its a afault, and a fault that shouldn't be there and one that many of us are unwilling to tolerate.

Graphics are acceptable, but compare them to almost all other sports games released in the last 12 (maybe 24) months, and they are rubbish.

exactly what i think. There not awful, per say, but there not good either, if fifa, madden etc... are good to excellent.

Still, calling this game 'unplayable' :doh. That word is thrown around far too much about games and half the time, it simply isn't true. good point. i can admit when i'm wrong. Its not unplayable in terms of the game engine. What i meant was that I WON'T play it or CAN'T bring myslf to sit there and save after EVERY over, and then PRETEND that what happened in an AI run out over didn't magically happen. Some can, or are willing to for a game of cricket. Fair enough, good for them.

Disagree about '99. It was the best cricket game ever to be released. I say 'was' because this one could over take it (PC version, at least).

I think he is not wrong about some things he is saying. I mean when I buy a game I want it to be free of bugs or atleast a proper followup from the makers. The biggest and the most unforgiveable sin from codemasters is realeasing the game before fixing issues like run outs (whish are really common and not hard to find). I still think this game is released way too early to catch ashes and hit the spot on rite time. shame. they had a while to prepare for the release dat. they knew when the ashes would be. they've clearly rushed it and not removed all the bugs that spoil it for many.

But come on dont say bad things about graphics I guess graphics are fine.

look, read the opening post. I have traded it in. I AM playing other things. Is it wrong/sad for me to be here complaining about it now, yes! But I'm here occasionally because I'm a cricket fan and a gaming fan, and i WANT a good cricket game. I'm frustrated because this was so nearly it. Again, i am NOT one of these people who say they hate everything about it, just that the things that ARE wrong with it ruin it for me as they overide the positive aspects of the game. Some of you admit these faults, but are willing to work round them. Again, with no trace of sarcasm, good for you, I wish i could! Some of you are as bad as those who hate on every aspect of this game, in that you refuse to achknowledge there is anything wrong with it. Lets be honest, even if you are willing to save after every (or every 5) overs... even if you are willing to accept an unrealistically low number of LBWS or bowleds (i know they don't happen as often as catches etc... but they should still be there more often than they are)... even if you are willing to either accept the absurd run rates, or bowl in the pre-determined yellow areas every ball ( i know there is a good line and length in real life, but c'mon, sometimes you CAN mix it up a bit in real life without the computer pre-determining that because its in the GREEN zone its going to attack)... should we have to accept a game where we have to do all this to make it good/playable/bearable?? I don't think we should, and if there was a good cricket game out there, or even one where there weren't a number of suicidal AI run outs every innings, personally I think this game would recieve near all-round criticism.

In conclusion, I agree its pointless to just hate on something, and post on forums about a game you no longer own because you were dissatisfied with it. But I want to make the next cricket game better, so thought I'd post my criticisms. Also, yes, I'm frustrated at this game, and those that say theres nothing wrong with it.
