Story AC13: Scotland's Big Test - Ireland forfeit - post 40!

Alright, the pitch curator needs to be arrested I guess? :p

----------

I wish a few other stories like Suren's or RPHKR's get this much attention, this section is really inactive atm.

BTW Guys how many people would have died of laughter if this game happened in real life?:D:D:D:D:D:D:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol

Ireland's second innings saw them start with intent - just get through the remaining 4 and 2/3rd days in the match, playing defensively.

This worked for the first five overs - before a dramatic single caused Scotland to snap, and Barmy put on to bowl to a ring field around the batsman.

An edge to the keeper on the last ball of the over redeemed the captain's odd field choice.

FOW: 1/1 - Rogers - c Walker b Barmy - 1

Sticking with this tactic into the seventh over eventually proved costly, with the batsman managing to hit a four despite a strong fielding effort.

However the wicket keeper couldn't cope with this sudden change in fortunes - spinning himself in protest against the umpire's decision to award the boundary.

This didn't stop, it was eventually decided to revert to the position at the beginning of the over, with the score back at 1/1.

Rogers ended up on the ground again despite his previous dismissal, with new batsman Baldwin walking off in anger at his four being revoked.

A bowled dismissal in the 10th over saw Whitehead dismissed.

FOW: 2/2 - Whitehead - b Russell - 0

Barmy was again successful in the 11th over, getting two wickets in suspiciously similar circumstances.

First getting the wicket of Gill

FOW: 3/5 - Gill - b Barmy - 3

And then getting Rogers out for a second time this innings.

FOW: 4/10 - Rogers - b Barmy - 4

In the next over, another odd catch from the wicketkeeper saw the last of the recognised batsmen dismissed.

FOW: 5/12 - Gibbs - b Russell - 2

Can Ireland build a strong lead from here?

Great story Matt. I must admit that I have been laughing rather a lot whilst reading this. It just shows how ridiculous this game is, as well as showing off some great funny moments. Keep it up.

Kudos to your reporting. No wonder BBC roped you in ;)

''Again,Matt, your tendency of making fun of AC13 along with killing us all with laughter of if this had happened in a real test match makes you such a great man''
Colin Barmy's hidden conscience
Thanks for putting laughter into my dull day of flooding rain in the SW of England

The very next ball was another dismissal,

FOW: 6/12 - Batsman (lost track of who) - b Russell - 0

Lunch followed

After regrouping in the break, Ireland managed to slightly add to the total with a quick single, before setting off for a second run while the ball was being thrown towards the stumps,

This wasn't wise.

FOW: 7/14 - Houghton - Run Out - 1

The last straw for Ireland was this decision - a gif doesn't do it justice,

After which the Irish refused to send out another batsman, and were timed out, before eventually conceding the match.

Scotland took the win and go 1 up in the yet to be determined length series.

Wow. Surviving 34 balls in this test match is a big achievement

Matt
I couldn't have thought of a better ending
Great storytelling
Waiting for the second test

Oh well, what to do with the next 4 months for PC owners has been resolved, as MattW can keep doing these stories till then...:p
