NPR had a really interesting segment on the Afghanistan National Team and how the initial funding for it was actually from misappropriated defense funds from the Pentagon. :laugh

So when they beat us, it was basically losing to a beast that we created lol.

It was just a matter of time before Afghanistan qualified for a mega tournament, as they have improved hugely over the last couple of years. Hopefully the team will do well in the WC, and give their war-torn countrymen something to cheer for.
