Hello, this is my first go at writing a cricket story on here, so be patient as I might not know what i'll be doing at times haha.

This thread will follow each countries fixture list from the 20/20 world cup. I haven't decided yet whether to follow each match in order as it comes or play each countries tour. E.g South Africa in West Indies

Whatever I choose, the first matches I will be doing with be South Africa's 20/20 series with West Indies, then I'll decide from there. (Hope I haven't confused anyone yet haha)

I will be using International Cricket 2010 :P

Graeme Smith in this years 20/20 World Cup

With just a week passing since South Africa's elimination from the 20/20 World Cup, the South African's continue
their stay with a tour of the host nation.
South African captain Graeme Smith leads his country on a months tour of the West Indies which includes a
2 match 20/20 series, a 5 match ODI series and a 3 match test series. There certainly wasn't a lack of 20/20 action
this month, and that doesn't appear to be ending. The first match of this year's tour will begin with a 20/20 in 2 days time.

Graeme Smith was pleased with the tour schedule. Smith said " It's a nice start to this tour having the 20/20 series straight
away. We've already got mentally prepared for this form of cricket as we've been playing in the World Cup, so it's a nice start
and eases you in well." When asked if it was unusual to be in a country for so long, Smith replied in a positive manner.
He stated " It is a bit of a change been here for quite a while, not that I have anything against it." Smith joked "However, the
boys might be a little bored of the same sights by the final test."

Both teams in jubilant mood for 2 match 20/20 series

With both teams raring to go for this 2 match 20/20 series, the team sheets have shown a slight suprise. The suprise
been that Mark Boucher has been dropped as Wicket-keeper for the limited overs leg of their tour. Instead, AB de Villiers
will be keep wicket for both the 2 match 20/20 series and 5 match ODI series.

The news comes soon after the South African selecters had annouced that changes would be made to help improve the teams
future preformances. Captain Graeme Smith was quoted saying " There is a new selection committee and a few new ideas.
We only have something like 15 ODIs before we get to India for the World Cup, so we have to make every one of them count."
"We have got a few new players who have arrived here and they will provide fresh impetus and momentum. Confidence
is an important thing and we need to start theWest Indies tour strongly."

SOUTH AFRICA BLOWN AWAY BY GAYLE

Gayle seals his century by smashing a 6

South Africa began their tour of the West Indies with a 7 wicket defeat mainly due to one man. West Indies captain Chris Gayle executed a fantastic batting display with an unbeaten 103 off 43 balls. With West Indies needing 162 to win, Gayle and co set off at a blistering pace to reach the target with just under 3 overs remaining. The only other noticable knock was by Chanderpaul, who fell for 35 runs off 25 balls. This victory puts West Indies 1-0 up in the 2 match 20/20 series and provides a confidence boost going into the next match.

With West Indies winning the toss and electing to field, South Africa knew they needed to set a good total to defend. However, things almost got to off to an awful start with just the first delivery of the day as captain Graeme Smith nearly went for a first ball duck by edging a Roach delivery only to be dropped. West Indies were wondering whether this was a missed opportunity as the South African captain battered through the opening bowlers. But in the 5th over of the day, Smith was out after slicing a Sammy delivery behind to be caught by none other that Chris Gayle. After this, the South African innings started to lose momentum with only 5 runs scored in the next 2 overs.

In stepped Jaques Kallis, who also provided a brilliant batting display after a knock off 51 off 33 balls along with Bosman's 26 off 38, and helped South Africa to 100 before Bosman got caught off the bowling of Taylor. When both Kallis and De Villiers went out, South Africa were on just 123/4 with 3 overs left. However, a quick fire 28 from Duminy gave South Africa a reasonable total of 161/4.

West Indies chased the total fairly easily, but were made to sweat early on when at 54/2 Gayle was dropped by Duminy, which proved to be a costly mistake. Gayle raced to his 50 in no time, and when he finally got his 100 he did it in the best possible way. Smashing a short delivery over the boundary for 6. In the end it was up to Pollard to hit the winning runs as West Indies gained a 1-0 in the 20/20 series.

Nice presentation. Excellent century by Gayle. Like he did in T20 2007.

SOUTH AFRICA RING CHANGES FOR FINAL 20/20 MATCH

South Africa hoping to level the series in final 20/20

After yesterday's easy win for the West Indies, the South Africans (as expected) have rung the changes with two players losing their places. In step Morkel and Parnell for Botha and Langveldt, with South Africa hoping these changes can get them back to winning ways and let them level the series to 1-1.
Graeme Smith had already implied before the tour began that the ODI's were going to be used to experiment with a South Africa team that will be hoping to reach quite far in next year's World Cup, so these changes will not come to anyones suprise.

The West Indies however, have named an unchanged line up to the team that beat South Africa yesterday by 7 wickets and hope to bag another win here tonight to complete a 2-0 win over the South Africans. Captain Chris Gayle put in a man of the match display yesterday and hopes he can continue that form into tonights game. GAyle said " The century for me yesterday was fantastic, but I feel that the win for us meant more. With many seeing that these matches are South Africa's to lose, I hope that we will show the world that the West Indies are getting back to the team that once dominated world cricket." He followed up " Individual stats are good, but if you can get those while your country is winning, it feels much better."

With many fans and spectators seeing these two 20/20 matches as just a warm up for the 5 ODI's the attendence is expected to be lower than last night. Yet, this could prove to be an intresting game, with both teams expected to either bounce back or continue their form.

Some people on this forum are really rude.

Nice start mate. Hope you stick around and keep this going. It's a shame this hasn't got more comments.

What an innings from Gayle! Just went beserk on the bowlers. Parnell and Morkel are two impressive youngsters who've already done well at the international stage. Good for them to get a chance.
