Boundary Chat With the West Indies 12th man Fidel Edwards
Michael Slater - Hello everyone, i have just found the 12th man Fidel Edwards down here at ground level, now Fidel , your boys are looking to set a huge score for England to chase. Will it be hard for England to chase a score around 300/300+?
Fidel Edwards: G'day there Michael, yeah well we have made a big score for the Poms to chase down. They would be feeling the pressure in this heat to chase down 250 odd, so hopefully we might have it in the bag.
MS: England have alot of dangerous batsman. Who will you be targeting as the most dangerous?
FE: Well like you said, they have alot of dominat and dangerous batsman. Strauss, Trescothick, Vaughan, Pietersen, Bell and Flintoff are all capable of making 100's in a one day match, so our boys will be careful in there approach to certain batsman.
MS: Well Freddie is in good form of late, took 3 wickets for the Poms just about half an hour ago, to get England kinda back into the game, so he will be looking to top off the perfect day, and make a huge score for himself and his team to try and knock off you blokes in the 1st match of the World Cup.
FE: Well i personally hot not haha, but nah Freddie is a great player, and has been a dangerous player against us for a long time. He will certainly be someone we need to stop today, but he is only the 1st step, we also need Vaughan, Strauss and Pietersen to stop before we come up against Freddie.
MS: Will we be expecting seeing you in the side in the near future?
FE: Well i hope so. They have a very good side out there this afternoon, i am just trying my best and trying to keep fit, and keeping my hand up for selection and hopefully can get my chance in the near future.
MS: Well Edwards, thanks for joining us, and lets hope your side can put on a bowling show
Bravo and Browne were eager to try and hit a big score in the closing overs of the game to put West Indies in a good position. They were whacking sixes and causing problems for the England bowlers and teams. They were smashing sixes down the ground and fours going everywhere. West Indies were on track to maybe even 400.
But in one over when Bravo tried to hit another one big and took a wild swing off an Anderson delivery and the ball went deep into the outfield where it went straight into the hands of Hoggard. . This was the start of good things for Hoggard
The second wicket of the collapse was the other main man Browne who also hit one deep into the outfield off another Anderson delivery and once again Hoggard and Anderson combined as Hoggard took the outfield catch.
Bradshaw, Dillions and Collymore were only out at the crease for a short time before they were all bowled from Hoggard.
Dillions didn?t want to stop the scoring and went for a big hit which resulted in the ball crashing into the stumps.
They were out for 5, 6 and 0 respectively.
So West Indies finish there innings with a great score of 359 and are definitely in the box seat. England will have some work to do if they are to win this.
Windies are in dominating position at the moment inspite of the tail collapse.First 20 overs is going to decide the climax i believe. Keep up the great works
