I would be willing to give Hughes the state player of the year. Klinger could get that but I don't think his One Day form has been great.

Hes actually going alright in OD, it's more T20 where he fell.

It's weird Michael Hussey hasn't won the Allan Border Medal yet, he should've got it ages ago.

Anyway this year I bet It's Mitchell Johnson

The tour of India really killed any chance of a bowler taking the AB this year.

Can't see Clarke getting the AB. his One Day from hasn't been good, but he has been the best Test player easily.

Having said that, a lot of Johnson's wickets in India came from wides, and generally, a lot of his wickets don't seem to be about bowling skill

AB Medal is for performances in just year 2008? Or includes the Aussie summer also? (I.e the Sydney test)

If only tests in 2008 are considered, then I feel Katich is the more deserving candidate than Clarke.

Katich - 1021 runs @ 57 in 11 matches
Clarke - 1063 runs @ 50.6 in 13 matches,

Both have same number of 100s. Katich was consistent the whole year.

Consistency works against you in this sort of thing. With the 3-2-1 voting, if you're man of the match, it's as good as being in the top 3 players three times. If it was going to be really fair, it would rate all of the players from 11-1, but that would probably favour people who don't get injured a little much.

AB Medal will definately be out of Clarke or Johnson. Katich for Test cricketer, would be up there in AB but doesn't play in one dayers.
