Another laptop problem...:\

I used my laptop quite a lot last night...then turned it off and went to sleep...when I woke up and tried turning it on. What happens is that everything goes fine up till the welcome screen. Once the welcome screen goes, I get a black screen and nothing else comes up. I can use Ctrl+Alt+Delete though...when I press that i get a few options...

1. Lock Computer
2. Log off
3. Switch User
4. and sumthing...quite sure its not Task manager though
5. Shutdown, restart and sleep

Any help would be really appreciated

BTW...I tried calling the HP people but they are having some technical difficulties

Most probably you are infected with a Virus.

When the screen becomes Blank, press Ctrl+Shift+Esc. This should bring up the task manager. There will be explorer as a process. End that Process.
Now go to the Applications Tab, and click on "New Task".
In the dialog that comes up, type "explorer" (without the quotes), and press Enter.
Wait a few seconds, and the desktop should be back.

Sorry Abhas I called the HP people and they couldn't help and I had to format it And anyway, I would have had to wait till the weekend got over so I could check your reply at school Thanks for trying though
