Lets share some tips and events,I am also an off spinner and Lets talk about tips that would provide help in taking wickets, your experinces and your classic wicket taking wickets,You can also share your experince batting/bowling/fielding in here I am sure this is the first thread which is to share your cricketing experince with some other members,

I do bowl Off Spin sometimes, get a lot of bounce with my height and can get som spin. I have a sort of high arm action which means the closer I am to the stumps, the closer to the stumps the ball lands. In order to give it flight(which is quite tough) you have to bring your arm down slower and release it higer. An armaball is always handy, just bring your arm down quicker and don't impart any spin(just hold it in your palm).
I don't pick up to many wickets bowling off spin outdoors(I doubt I have even taken one yet :p :D ), but do pick a few while playing in the building.

I bowl Off Spin..I'm a part time bowler lol....I like batting more :p

I always try to bowl in line with the stumps, because it makes it difficult for the batsman to score.

I bowl offies and its a lot of fun when you get it right...

But seriously, its easy hen you know how to do it, and can get you a lot of wickets. I bowl with two fingers + my thumb on the seam, stretched wide apart, and I get a lot of turn. I also bring my arm down reasonably straight, with my elbow coming straight down as well.

My favourite wicket I took was when I bowled a beautiful flighted delivery outside off-stump, it turned in, and the batsman completely missed it while he was on the charge and moving across the crease. Easy stumping.

But, off-spin is great, much easier than the leggies everyone tries to bowl and imitate Warnie...

I bowl both off-spin and leg-spin and can bowl a very tiresome slow left-arm orthodox. I prefer leg-spin as I get it to spin more, although it is very hard to control. I have also worked on some variations on the leg-spin including the googly and the flipper. As for off-spin, I can just bowl the normal off-spin delivery. The problem with off-spin is since it is so easy anyone can bowl it. That means you have to have variations to trouble the batsman.

Sorry to say it dude but everybody is talking in such a way that somebody reading it might feel that this are nothing short of international spinners talking up.

Some of the comments are really out of this world like sohum's .If mishraji u r so good a bowler which Ranji team do u play for ???
Andd the point that anybody can bowl offspin is pathetic. The thing which u r talking bout is creating angle and delievering it .

Aussies r tops has talkjed within sanity here .

Also for offies to go right u must be prepared to give in ur fingers to some really cruel seam.Ripping of the ball from ur fingers is damn neceesary for a finger spinner.

Had a friend who spun it with a leggie like action .He did get lot of spin from it.But thats too tough .
Nothing comes easy when u r playing a level bigger than GALLI cricket

Dude, first you need to calm down. Secondly, my last name is spelled Misra. Not Mishra. When you add a possessive, it doesn't magically contain an 'h'. Thirdly, if I can bowl such variations, why should I lie? I have figured out how to bowl them, haven't I? I have not claimed that I have picked up many wickets and bowled beautifully and that the Indian team is missing my talent.

Fardin asked for us to share our cricketing experiences/talents with each other so I was just doing that. Sorry if I sounded like an international cricketer. I guess I should sound more amateur.

As for off-spin, I do mean spin and I do mean everyone can bowl it. I know what it is to create an angle and bowl the ball. In fact if you create an angle and bowl off-spin at the same time, that is not only a variation but a very successful one (around the wicket bowling off-spin, for example). You will notice that there are millions of off-spinners around the world. But how many have had success? One--Muttiah Muralitharan. Perhaps you can add Harbhajan's Aussie dossier to that. But no other off-spinner has succeeded to great levels because they lack variation.

Whenever I bowl off-spin (only in the nets) I try and flight it as much as possible, I do this to try and make batsman do the work (charging etc.), which makes it more likely that the batsman will make a mistake.

But it may also mean that he might smack it for 6 ;)

What I have gathered from my playing of cricket is that a spinner must be ready to be smacked by the batsman.Valid point here by stevie U do need to give air to the ball .Cos thats the only way of getting turn (unless its a dust bowl). Also there in lies a spinners greatest asset ie brains.

One gr8 guy had once said bowling fast is all about brawns and spin bowling bout brains ?????????

Sohum ur not right once again in saying that just Murali has been a succses story as an off spinner.

How can u forget bout Saqlain and some old wily Indian masters ?

Sorry to sohum if I was rude .Also from which part of India do u belong ???

I thought u to be Mishra .Deepest apologisies for that

Yep the spinner must be prepared to take risks.

Even if the batsman does smack it,there may be a fielder at Long On to take a catch ;)

Hey I'm a right handed medium fast bowler. When I bowl, I don't try to bowl too fast. I try my best to keep the bowl in the right line and length and on the off stumps. I pick up too many wickets that way... I have bowled the batsmen so many times...especially with yorkers and sometimes edged the batsmen to the wicketkeeper. And I don't bowl with the same pace that's the best thing to do if you're a fast bowler; just change the pace after every delivery. To know more about me and my team "Bad Blood" please go check the thread in "CRICKET CHAT" , LOCAL CRICKET IN USA. Have fun!!! :)

Once again the same point.Well Preet hearing from u I want to know when will u join the Indian team as they r lacking a fast bowler .Maybe u can help as u have to control ur pace (which implies u r genuinely fast) and u take loads of wickets with a nos of bowleds.

Thats impressive dude. But hey what has been the biggest match of ur life ????Please share with us .Maybe this could be ur v to the Indian team .
