TENNIS AO Tennis

Guys on the verge of getting this game based on the customize options but wouldn't it be cool to have a sub forum like ashes cricket where you could see some of the great efforts being created?
I would agree... Can we call it Planetballgames... Dominated by men x

It's a joke Dave... Just keep your hand on the tiller...[DOUBLEPOST=1528135471][/DOUBLEPOST]
At least this Mark Cecchinato guy from Italy is giving some inspiration to my career player. He won 5 of his first 34 ATP matches and now he is in the Roland Garros QF. On and on!

Games played on dirt are just beech games get on the proper grass and blow your mind... Erm... Experience being better on grass x

@mikeymerren, a couple of observations from my career (still at Futures level):

I think it's been mentioned here before, but I've yet to see the AI hit the ball long. All faults have either been wide, or into the net.

Also, those low-ranked players certainly hit the side-lines a lot when they have me running from side to side. Even ones with forehand and backhand skill levels just in the 40s.

I have to agree they hit the lines way too often despite low skill level but as off hitting it long, I am seeing that far more frequently now. Especially sincd it was mentioned the other day.

Interesting. Maybe my opponents don't have enough power to hit long? I've never hit a ball long either.

Are you the players you've seen hit the bit long, low-skilled?

I have seen both. But generally higher skilled I guess.

I hit long as well. But not as often as wide. Only really when I aim for the corners generally.

Hi all,

Great progress on AO Tennis as has been the norm of late, and oh so not surprised at the "TWT released at 20%" news!

I have noticed that no-one has posted a single reply to my new GST 2 @ 4K thread, saddens me a little as some people in this thread expressed interest in my uploading of it...

Still, where there is life there is hope I guess!

Would be nice to at least hear a comment such as "hey, finally a game (GST 2) where even though most dont like the gameplay overall, at least the ball swerves (curves/bends/deviates) in flight like in every damn real like Tennis stroke, how on earth do AO Tennis and the TWT @ 20% not have this in their game but Full Ace and Tennis Elbow do, OMG (to quote what this generation say....), I am astounded etc etc, its like that wanky fcuking over-hyped straight line tennis "game" Top Spin 4 all over again conning people into thinking Tennis shots all fly through the air 100% in a straight line!, do these guys not know how to code a ball in flight that curves!

We always get the "radical" or "student twat" dude telling us that TS4 is "just so realistic man, like er the way the rally develops, and hey man, I dont look at how the ball flight is so unrealistic man (not that I am capable, like, you know, like, of noticing the ball 100% of the time goes straight) but yeah man, all I can like hear are the great court ambient sounds and I can see both players running to the edge of the court on each shot, O M G its so radical man and i am one of the brainwashed 56 million. Whats weird though man is that I watched, like, some Tennis on the Telly Vision, like, tonight, like, and errr like the ball kept deviating (curving?) left and right on every shot, so is my copy of TS4 faulty, or is this game I have been brainwashed into thinking was like Britney Spears in a tiny black gsring just, like, a 2011 version of..............Binatone's Pong but with durr urrgh urrgg photorealistic players in like, I guess, like graphically?"

I repeat what I've said many times in many forums, if the coders leave out sidespin, its due to them not wanting to calculate the positioning of the receiving player, because in real life, the ball we are hitting back has been delivered with either top spin or back spin, and 99% of the time it moves in the air due to natural side spin.

Proof being that poor coders = no sidespin.

So therefore Full Ace and Tennis Elbow have GREAT coders as that ball deviates with all manners of spin every single way it does in real life (they clearly employ proper physics coders at these two companies, of which I would guess they have much smaller teams deployed per game than the big boy companies that are coding AO Tennis and TWT)

Its not easy to understand the mathematics of ball spins and then apply that to a dynamic sports game, but if you cant code it, get out of this industry.

I damn well love hyped up visuals but only if they are allied (in a sports game where a ball is involved) with great ball physics, but I detest how most of the games except GST 2 and Virtua Tennis 4 have great visuals and unrealistic ball physics.

GST 2 and Virtua Tennis 4 combined both (yes, even VT4, just checkout the ball physics, it had sidespin on ground strokes, it was all inclusive)........................and so surely 4 years on then surely both AO Tennis and TWT now at 21% (in the last hour they might have got the game up by 1%.....!) willl be able to do both, albeit with patches as we educate the coders on ball physics which they needed to know about to get the bloody job in the first place. This is mostly a dig at TWT and not at AO Tennis, its late night here as I type this.

Mikeymerrens comments prove there is intent to upgrade the ball physics in AO Tennis but I will bet my life right now that he will be told to concentrate on bullshit such as "ooooh, ooooh, we need more Tournaments, OMG, or to increase the power of this, or to decrease the power of that oooooooh, oooooooh, gstring tight up there" etc etc.

Lets hope not eh!

In Mikeymerren, we trust, as even though it appears I have slated AO Tennis above, it is greatly improving and our Mikey fella has promised we will see this side spin plus all the irrelevant things others have asked him to work on, oooh, cannot wait, more tournaments and a fix for a 0.0001% important issue with the Editor...

Hey @mikeymerren

I was just wondering whether the sharing of PlayFace can be fixed? If it has already been shared before, and you try share it again it gives a duplication error.

This has been happening from the beginning and I did mention it to @HBK619 but I am not sure whether it has been looked at.

I'm finding that there are times when I play a low-ranked AI player (ranked below me), I can win the first set handily, and then they raise their game in the subsequent sets. That happens in real life of course, and it makes a good challenge. However, sometimes the level is so far above the level of the first set, that it can't realistically be the same player.

Anyone else seeing this?

beechcroft:- I think that might be the effects of the 2nd and 3rd glass of Beer kicking in.............the AI knows, he/she sees that Beer glass in your hand as you progressively get worse at playing...........

Who doesn't jump on the box with a beer... ?

A small request for the game to learn where I stand when I receive serve, and place me there as my default position.

I am in a tussle to get through to the final: lost the first set of the semi 6-2 but lead 2-1 in the second....I am having to re-think my playing strategy as this player is countering my style well....
