Example, England need to win a test match.

England pick four bowlers, two of which are carrying injuries. The pitch is flat, getting wicekts will be hard....

Yes, they've stuck with Harmison (not playing in this test though) for so long yet he's been utter crap for 3 years. They still play Colly who should've gone a long time ago. They don't play Rob Key who is class. They've finally, only now given Shah a chance.

Considering Strauss picked the team for this game, I don't think the selectors can be blamed for this Test. The selectors pick the squad, and the captain picks the team, and personally, I'm pretty happy with the squad. Harmison had to be in the squad for this series, he had a good season last year, and had a great record in the Carribbean prior to this series. Ian Bell is good enough to be in the touring squad, but has rightly been left out of the XI. Tim Ambrose has proven he's a very capable back-up Keeper. Ravi Bopara's come in and done well. I don't think we can have too many complaints tbh, I don't really know who else could have come in and done much better than the squad we've got out there.

Well, unless things have changed since KP was captain, the selectors pick the squad, the captain picks his XI. That's how it worked when KP was captain, so I'd presume that's how things work for Strauss. KP was definitely in charge of picking the XI, I remember them talking about that, so I doubt that's changed with Strauss in charge.

Old Nassy chops seems to think that the selectors are soley to blame for picking this starting eleven, not doubting your knowledge but ill go with Nasser on this one. And i fully agree with him, this selection has been terrible, picking two inured players, even though swann has bowled well.
