Didn't want the title too long haha. But i was just wondering, since Usain Bolt is such a great athlete, he started offplaying cricket as a fast bowler. Then his high school coach suggested he do sprinting... I just wonder whether he would have made it us a cricketer. Being that he is strong, athletic and clearly fast; also that he is 6'5" tall. Would he have made a good fast bowler?

Its possible, who do you think could have made a good cricketer?

The commentators brought it up in the game against the Windies, basically they pointed out that obvious that Bolt must not have been good enough hence he got into sprinting which is just what sprinting needed. Attribute wise he definitely would be a handful with his height and possibly bowling at 140km/h+

The sprinters would be the main ones that could make it.

I reckon some javelin throwers might be good... you never know lol

Just cause of the similar action and the obvious shoulder and arm strength

I reckon any of the big hitters in baseball, David Ortiz, Manny Ramirez, Albert Pujols and of course Lance Berkman.

These guys hit homeruns over 500 feet sometimes. Would love to see them bat.

He has a lot of work to do :p

Patrick Ewing.

Awesome basketballer, started off playing Cricket in Jamaica.

Big tall baller who could of partnered Ambrose, Walsh, Bishop and co in the 90's.

Apparently Jimmy Bartel from Geelong played U17s for Victoria and could have continued with it if he didn't choose footy.

Ellyse Perry seems to be on the wall. Hopefully she chooses cricket over soccer, lately she's doing great trying to juggle both.

his technique must have been rubbish. Usain must be packed with high twitch muscles which are what give you explosive power so, especially given his height, he should have been able to absolutely rifle the ball down.

surely a lot of tennis players would make good cricketers. Hard to imagine Federers flawless footwork and hand-eye co-ordination wouldn't have translated to cricket. Nadal not so much as he relies on stamina and power, though deliberately switching hands is very australian and would have made him a very top-handed player which is good for technique. Andy Murray has wonderful hand skills, reactions and innovation on the tennis court so he could have made a great one day player, nurdling cut strokes and reverse sweeps into the gaps. Also, his waiting for the error tactics that so often gets criticised in tennis could have made him one for the long haul, always leaving and looking for only the bad balls. (indeed in a tennis match he actually played a shot that was basically a forward defense to a federer smash, and he won the point)

StinkyBoHoon added 4 Minutes and 13 Seconds later...

Oh, and andy roddick at 6'4 (I think) with his super quick release serve action is surely the best fast bowler america never had.

You'd think maybe hockey players could be good at batting. Maybe Pitchers for bowling if they could have a dodgy style. I know that a few years ago there was an Australian Celebrity match.

Phil Neville used to captain the Lancashire U16's before he became a footballer. Was regarded as the best player in his team by his coaches; and this team contained none other than Andrew Flintoff.

I think he did, read it on CW, some fella said that Pont had posted that Atul had done a runner from him and owes him some money :laugh He's been injured since the beginning of the IPL as well apparently. He's never going to bowl in a match.
