Australia A in Pakistan

Phil Jaques showed us what he could do at Yorkshire this season and now he's doing it for Australia too. Wont be long before he's brought in to the Aussie team, may get a chance against SA if Hayden or Martyn for that fact has another stinker series.

Here is a score thingy I got from a friend that went to the match in Pindi ...

Aus A 196 (59 ov)

Jaques 92

Johnson 23

Shahid Nazir : 3/36

Sami : 3/67

Pak A 181/7 (53 ov)

Sami 33
Bazid 30
Asim 26
Zulqarian 26* (NOT OUT AT STUMPS)
Mansoor 9* (NOT OUT AT STUMPS)

Bracken 3/41
Leiwis 2/27
Watson 2/38

Pretty even match at this stage... will get next report from friend at 4:30 pm EST / 9:30 PM GMT

Oi... gimmie rep for this, i dont make a long distance international call for nothing :P

Yeah, that's better, Pak A didn't bat till day 2, so day 2 stats for Pak A bowling would essentially be from day 1.

Wow, these kind of scores are not what I would come to expect from matches being played in Pakistan.

Pity Mitch Johnson didn't get amongst the wickets, I saw him play against the Vics a couple of years back and he was a mountain of a bloke who could really produce some heat. Did he suffer some back troubles?

Watson has done quite well. Anyone know how he was bowling? Johnson did quite well with the bat possibly a bowling all rounder. Bracken brillant as always and should be in the Aus 11.

Pakistan win by 7 wickets! Australia A all out on 130 after Pakistan A posted 213. Sami being the cheif destroyer with 3 very quick wickets at the start, and Gul provided excellent support. Nazir and Mansoor Amjad also got 2 wickets each. Pakistan A openers started in decent fashion, putting up 76 for the 1st wicket. Bracken was carted off for 26 in his 4 overs, while Lewis conceeded 19 in 3 overs. Butt and Malik made 47 and 38 respectively. Hameed continued his dismal form with the bat with a score of 10. Cameron White grabbed 3 quick wickets, but it was too late as Pakistan A reached the target easily.

Aussie selectors ought to take notice of this. But I think Australia A couldnt cope with the conditions in Pakistan. They'll come back hard at us, when they've learned the conditions and stuff. Hameed needs to be miles away from our Pakistani squad. How many times is this guy going to fail.Atleast Butt made ammends by a 47. This guy cant even do that!

This is great! Pakistan A won. This is really a surprise for me. For me Sami is the Man of the Match with his seven wickets. All these guys from Australian A have good records, so it's a good for win for Pakistan. And they reached of 114 in 19.5 overs. Pretty quick.

Little something from cricinfo.com:
Just as Australia thought things could not get much worse, their second string players suffered a comprehensive seven-wicket defeat on the third day of their opening tour match against Pakistan A.

Mohammed Sami was the catalyst for Pakistan's victory as he tore through the Australian top order in their second innings. (this is good for the first team of Pakistan)

Here is the homepage of Pakistan A vs Australia A of cricinfo.com: http://www.cricinfo.com/db/ARCHIVE/2005-06/AUS-A_IN_PAK/

Next match starts on 17th September.

The massive swing in momentum sounds like a change in weather affected the game. I mean, both teams clearly struggled at 4 an over, but then Pak A came out and flung at nearly 6 an over.

Check-out Sami's new hair-style! Us Pakistanis have such great tastes :)
Post a picture.

Good win for Pak A at the end. I was a bit disappointed by Yasir Hameed but seems like batting was tough on that pitch under those conditions.

I am disappointed in him too. He had a great start, but lately he is getting out very similar in each innings.

But there are enough other players who can fill in the spot he has.

Hameed is a proven failure nightprowler. Apart from his debut year, he hasnt done anything worthy.
See my post in the England in Pakistan thread about him. His averages aren't too bad in either form of the game. He's a lot more dependable than some of the other openers we've tried.
