Australia A in Pakistan

A disappointing result for the Aussie boys but invaluable experience nonetheless. I'm not sure how many of them have played in Pakistan before (possibly have toured with youth sides), but every game you can play against quality opposition on foreign soil can only be great for your development.

C'mon Oz A!

Anyone see how White went while getting his 3 wickets? Is he looking anything like Kumble cuz if so get him into the Aus side straight away.

lol. It's Bracken you want. OR BRING BACK BICHEL!

Anyway, a 22 year old leg spinner isn't going to get selected. Too immature.

See my post in the England in Pakistan thread about him. His averages aren't too bad in either form of the game. He's a lot more dependable than some of the other openers we've tried.

Dependable my foot! Look at his technique. Everytime he chases the ball instead of leaving it, and finally he nicks one. This has been a regulation in Hameed's dismissal. Regularly he gets out like this, edging to the keeper. And he has only played well against the likes of Bangladesh and a weakened New Zealand (even Farhat managed to score runs against them). Butt has cracked three centuries in a short span of time. Silver Jubilee, Aussie test series and the Indian tour. Still it is not enough to keep him in the team. Anyone (and someone this young!) who has made a century against Australia should be in the Test team.

These are the squads for the next match:

Butt, Sami, Kamal and Gul aren't playing in the match. Bowlers Najaf Shah and Mohammad Asif and batsmen Hasan Raza and Faisal Iqbal have been included in the Pakistan A team.

Pakistan A team: Misbah-ul-Haq (captain), Ashar Zaidi, Imran Farhat, Bazid Khan, Hasan Raza, Faisal Iqbal, Zulqarnain Haider (wk), Mansoor Amjad, Mohammad Asif, Yasir Arafat, Mohammad Khalil, Shahid Yousuf, Najaf Shah, Naumanullah and Mohammad Irshad.

Australia A squad: Brad Haddin (captain/wk), Mike Hussey, Nathan Bracken, Stuart Clark, Dan Cullen, Brad Hodge, James Hopes, Phil Jaques, Mitchell Johnson, Michael Lewis, Marcus North, Dominic Thornely, Shane Watson and Cameron White.

I hope mike hussey manages to make a few runs, It would be good to see him get into the main team especially after he played so well against england in the one day series.

If Hussey ever wants to make the team he will have to do something in this A tour. If not he may never play a test match for Aus.

If they can't beat this Pakistan A team, I don't see much positive future for Australia. Shoaib Malik isn't also in the squad now, as I see it. Australia A should win this.

Hussey failed yet again, but Hopes has done very well. He could be useful if he can continue this opening form as he can bowl a bit.

Does James Hopes bat as a opener? I remember him batting at 6 or 7 in the ODI he played against New Zealand

He was orginially a 6-7 batter. Now the ACB wants to try him as an opener.
Of course any new guy getting into the Aus side on batting is going to be pushed down the order from where they usually bat as there is no space for them up the order.

Second day was almost washed out. This could turn into a draw with 2 days left only.
