Scorecard
A tremendous final over from Warriors seamer David Bandy has helped secure a narrow three run victory for WA in the opening KFC Twenty20 Big Bash match against Tasmania at the WACA. Needing twelve win off the last over, the visitors managed just seven and lost two wickets as the Warriors got their first points on the board for the tournament. Earlier the Warriors posted a competitive 5-175 in their twenty overs as Luke Pomersbach starred with 67 in 47 deliveries before being run out by George Bailey. Pomersbach was well supported by good friend Shaun Marsh who made an unbeaten 44 in 33 deliveries. The Tigers run chase started poorly as they slumped to 4-48 early as captain George Bailey fell for four after Danny McLauchlan earlier removed Dane Anderson (16) and Alex Doolan (0) in consecutive balls. But with the match looking beyond the visitors, former Warrior Michael Dighton and highly rated wicketkeeper Tim Paine were immense with half-centuries. Dighton finished 78* whilst Paine fell with four balls to spare for 66 to Bandy who also snared Jason Krejza off the last ball of the innings to send the full house at the WACA into raptures.
