Australian Premier League XIII

Team Introspection
NNLOGO-1.png

Shaun Marsh - Man of the series last season, this season the magic faded a little. Though he scored 4 fifties, he didn't turn up to the expectations and failed mostly in do-or-die matches.

Rating - 7.5/10

Usman Khwaja - Season 1 was average for him. Season 2 was worse. He scored only two halves and his average couldn't go above 20. His Strike Rate too wasn't good enough.

Rating - 3/10

Virender Sehwag - Leading run scorer of this season, the captain has proved again he is the one to fear. Over 700 runs with an average of 54 and a sky-touching 100, he is just above Shoaib Malik in this season.

Rating - 10/10

Brad Hodge - Just firing like last season, Hodge spread the fun again. Averaging 64 in this season and 72 last season, he has been one of the most consistent performers of APL.

Rating - 10/10

Zaheer Khan
- This season too, he performed consistently, bagging 21 wickets a little less than the last season. But he was overshadowed by Callum Thorp.

Rating - 8/10

Ramnaresh Sarwan - Another consistent performer worth mentioning, he played almost as good as he played in first season. He, combined with Hodge and Sehwag form a batting trio there.

Rating - 9/10

Ian Harvey - Entered the team late due to a long injury, he was the economical power of the team with just 4.1 runs per over, though been not much of a help in batting.

Rating - 7/10

James Croshwaite - Didn't get a chance to play last season due to Kieswetter being there, he played pretty good than was expected from him.
Scored a fifty there and blessed the team with some good dismissals.

Rating - 7/10

Fidel Edwards - Not playing majority of matches due to his injury, Edwards even failed to grab a spot in the team after coming back from injury. Potentially performed very less as he could.

Rating - 5/10

Callum Thorp - As said, old is gold, Callum Thorp proved it. Being over 35 years old, he shook every kind of team with his on-the-spot bowling and finished the season, being in the top list of the players.

Rating - 10/10

Mitchell Starc - He was neither as consistent as Thorp nor as himself last season. Losing his touch, Starc was the focus of lacklustre wicketless bowling this season.

Rating - 4/10

Dwayne Smith - He got more of a chance than last season and he too failed to make a use of that in any sense. Though the bowling was economical, it lacked something and batting was nonsense too. Probably he will be released this season.

Rating - 4.5/10

Grant Sullivan - Another older player, he never backed up the team when the bowlers were being pwned. Instead, he was one of most expensive players of the team.

Rating - 2/10

Kieron Pollard - Trading him with Aamer was the biggest mistake NewCastle commited as the so-called aggresive batsman didn't turn up well for them. Batting was more fail than anyone else and please do not remind us of his bowling.:facepalm

Rating - 1/10

Team Rating - 6.3/10

Btw, Biggy can you make sure the draft starts after Wednesday? I am a bit busy till then, and I dont want to miss out on the good players. Thanks.

i think its going to be like the NZPL draft, depending on how many players you've released.

GCClogo.png
Alastair Cook - The batting mainstay of the crusaders, was given chance in only 8 matches(was a foolish decision) and his stats tells you everything. 9.5/10

Brett Lee - praise. He was as deadly as ever and most importantly in big matches. 8.8/10

Josh Hazlewood - was above expectations in limited opportunities, he took us to the finals. 8.2/10

Suresh Raina - Couldn't convert good starts into big innings. Though he was as good as real life. 7.5/10

Clint McKay - another good season for him. 7.5/10

Tillakaratne Dilshan - He did his job quite satisfactory. He was given the gloves in absence of a local keeper, he turned out to be good. Not so strong season in batting though. 7/10

Rob Quiney - no major contribution. But he nearly did his part, the only good domestic young batsman for the side. 6.5/10

Callum Ferguson - not upto expectations. As an experienced Aussie batsman, he needed to take the team to next level but couldn't. 6/10

Ben Edmondson - quite good but can't produce any match winning spell.5/10

Yusuf Pathan - He wasn't doing what he is known for, but played well in the middle order. 5/10

David Bandy - did some good bowling in some of the matches, couldn't get wickets and runs. 4/10.

Chris Gayle-only good for practice matches.3/10

Ben Dunk - I thought he is good, but for my bad luck he wasn't, I chose him because I thought an Aussie WK-batsman would do great work for the team. Unfortunately a big fail. 2/10

Daniel Harris - Played good in only one match. He cannot be fitted in the team also. 2/10

Ashley Noffke - given chance in only one match. 2/10

Anil Kumble - showed no signs of being a legend.1.5/10

Steven Smith - major disappointment of the season for me. 1/10

Saurabh Tiwary - wasn't given chance.

Sorry for the lack of detail here, but I'm rushing around a bit. I'll just announce the awards.

Spell of the Season

Stuart Clark (CSC) - A round 5 encounter against the eventual champions, and Stuart Clark was almost unplayable, taking 5/17 (7.2)

Knock of the Season

Shivnarine Chanderpaul (GG) - Many contenders for this award, but I couldn't go past this one. Shiv scored an unbeaten 134 off just 112 balls!

Batsman of the Season

Shoaib Malik (CSC) - Freak is the word. Only dismissed twice in 11 innings (including a run out). He scored 601 runs at an average of 300.5, at the same time he maintained a strike rate of 92!

Bowler of the Season

Chris Swan (CD) - He came out of nowhere, and in a team that didn't make the finals he stood out amongst the pack.

All-rounder of the Season

Ryan ten Doeschate (GG) - A genius with the bat, his bowling was not too shabby either. He consistently took wickets and had an economy rate many would envy.

Rising Star

Cameron Boyce (GG) - 'Who is he?' they were saying. He kept Bryce McGain gameless, and took 21 wickets in a breakthrough season.

Manager of the Season

CG123 (SS) - Always active, taking a team of wooden spooners back from the depths to claim the APL title. Thouroughly deserved!

vCash to be sent soon!

Thanks for the vCash Biggy, and thanks for naming me manager of the season.

Can you archive my season one review - http://www.planetcricket.org/forums/1786938-post843.html
I'm a bit short of time at the moment, but will hopefully get round to doing a season two review soon.

Also a lot more players have been released this season which is good.
I remember last season I was pretty much the only one to release a decent amount of players, meaning I had very few decent ones to choose from.
