Australian Premier League XIII

Yay, I get to select one line-up for the All-star series. :)
Good idea with the rising star award, I might need to introduce that one into NZPL. :p

Wow. Well set out awards night there Biggy. Also happy to be able to select a lineup for the All-Stars series. 2 questions though.

1. Do we put our requested lineup, vm it to you, pm it to you or will there be a dicussion in the SG soon to post it.

And
2. Is it an Overseas lineup, Australian players lineup or any players.

@Biggy: Can you please tell me how this all-stars series work, and how I'm involved?

^ me too :D

yay im manager of the season :banana2, i try and get my lineups in early and yeah..
the the maximum effort award goes down to mark richardson's coaching on how to bat aggressively. :D

OK, how it works is..

I'm guessing hedger and Covvy will want to represent the Australian XI, and BKB1991, and bcvs will want to represent the All-Stars XI (unless they want to change).

So riz and CG which team do you want to represent? Then we have 3 managers for each side for the 3 match series. You each get to name an XI.

I don't really mind either way. If both Riz and Callum want to name an Australian, I will name an All-Stars lineup but I'll go Aussie if they don't.

i'll go aussie love the underdog :p, but do we name a xi from all the teams in the APL?

You name an Australian Starting XI based on the stats in this season. If Callum wants to name an All-Stars XI, I will choose a lineup for Australia or if he wants to name an Australian XI, then I will choose a lineup for All Stars.

So randomly here's how it will go:

Australian XI (riz7khan12) v All-stars XI (CG123)
Australian XI (Covvy) v All-stars XI (BKB1991)
Australian XI (hedger_14) v All-stars XI (bcvstheworld)

Well I have announced my Playing XI for the final All-Star game for the Australian XI. I had firstly made up a shortlist of 19 players in which I managed to get down to 11 after leaving out the oldies (Warne and Gilly).

The shortlist was:

Batsman

Cameron White - 365 runs @ 40.6 in 10 matches
Adam Voges - 532 runs @ 59.1 in 11 matches
Mike Hussey - 330 runs @ 41.3 in 11 matches
Lee Carseldine - 340 runs @ 48.6 in 11 matches
Ricky Ponting - 516 uns @ 46.9 in 11 matches
Callum Ferguson - 421 runs @ 42.1 in 11 matches
Shaun Marsh - 648 runs @ 72 in 11 matches.
Michael Clarke - 509 runs @ 50.9 in 11 matches.

All-Rounders

Shane Watson - 408 runs @ 40.8 and 8 wickets @ 55 in 11 matches. ER of 5.5
Andrew Symonds - 356 runs @ 50.9 and 14 wickets @ 25.7 in 11 matches. ER of 4.5

Keepers

Adam Gilchrist - 421 runs @ 38.3 in 11 matches.
Travis Birt - 374 runs @ 37.4 in 11 matches.
Tim Paine - 322 runs @ 32.2 in 11 matches.

Spin Bowlers

Nathan Hauritz - 16 wickets @ 25.4 in 11 matches. ER of 4.7.
Shane Warne - 19 wickets @ 20.5 in 11 matches. ER of 4.2.

Pace Bowlers

Shaun Tait - 17 wickets @ 25.9 in 10 matches. ER of 4.9.
Nathan Bracken - 20 wickets @ 22.2 in 11 matches. ER of 4.3.
Mitchell Johnson - 17 wickets @ 27.4. ER of 4.5.
Clint McKay - 17 wickets @ 21.6 in 9 matches. ER of 4.4.
Mitchell Starc - 15 wickets @ 33.3 in 11 matches. ER of 5.1

And the starting XI was: (It was not based entirely on stats)

1. Shaun Marsh
2. Shane Watson^
3. Ricky Ponting*
4. Michael Clarke
5. Adam Voges
6. Andrew Symonds^
7. Travis Birt+
8. Mitchell Johnson^
9. Nathan Hauritz^
10. Nathan Bracken^
11. Mitchell Starc^

Lineup 1
Australia XI
1. Shane Watson
2. Shaun Marsh
3. Ricky Ponting (c)
4. Adam Gilchrist (wk)
5. Michael Clarke
6. Andrew Symonds ^
7. Daniel Christain ^
8. Mitchell Johnson ^
9. Shane Warne ^
10. Nathan Bracken ^
11. Clint McKay ^

this is my team, had a tough time choosing my spinner between Warne and Hauritz but in the end chose Warne. Daniel Christain was really handy for me at no.7 making a quick half-century averaging 48.2 with the bat.
