Story Bangladesh Begin Blissful Age [India In Bangladesh]

I too agree with Dhoni, Bangladesh still have to improve a lot to challenge for the top spots and have to play better cricket aaway from home also. Great work Jaz. KIU :clap

I thought Bangladesh were pretty good, the expectations of them have just risen so much after beating Australia, that's all. Normally this would be considered a great effort by Bangladesh!

Great work Jaz, kiu!

I also agree with Dhoni. Bangla needs to improve a lot. As always nice update Jaz KUTGW.

Bangladesh Announce One Day International Squad

With the One Day Internationals just round the corner and after a bust up between the captains of the two Nations, Bangladesh have named their 15 man team for the One Day Series against Australia. Bangladesh have unsurprisingly kept all 12 players who were picked for the Test Series and have added one bowler and two batsmen to the attack. The Australian team has opted to go with the same team as the one used for the Test Series. The Bangladesh 15 man squad is:

Shahriar Nafees
Javed Omar
Habibul Bashar(*)
Naeem Islam
Rajin Saleh
Mohammad Ashraful
Faisal Hossain
Mushfiqur Rahim(+)
Nazmus Sadat
Hassibul Hossain
Mashrafe Mortaza
Niamur Rashid
Shafaq Al-Zabir
Arafat Sunny
Ahsanullah Hasan

What seems to be a makeshift One Day International Squad from Bangladesh, doesn't look as strong as the one that faced Australia. Many new faces, on the International circuit, such as Al-Zabir, Rashid and Sadat have all been given the opportunity to represent their country against India. All three of the players have taken 10 wickets in the matches this season in the One Day Domestic scene, in two or three matches, and look very promising. Mahendra Singh Dhoni told the press he thinks the Bangladesh team need a good few years before they hit their peak, and Sir Ian Botham responded with equal comments.

There are only a few changes from the two teams that were announced for the Test series. Kabir and Rafique were both expected to feature in the Bangladesh 15 man squad, but have both been left out due to poor form. Players such as Bashar, Sunny, Mortaza and Saleh were the highlights of the Test series, which saw Bangladesh snatch a 1-1 drawn series. They deserved it immensely thanks to their heroic performance in the first Test match.

The batting for Bangladesh is looking strong. Bashar, Islam, Ashraful and Nafees have all the capability of giving Bangladesh the perfect start with such players as Saleh, Omar and Hossain still offering alot to the team. The batting department was not as consistent as Sir Ian Botham would of liked in the Test series, but he has stated that they are on the up, which is the only real thing he cares about. Some of the batsmen are relied on, quite heavily, but still the runs could come from anywhere. Not as exquisite as India's batting lineup, but now a million miles away. Just a few hundred thousand.

The bowling lineup sees quite a few changes. Alamgir Kabir and Mohammad Rafique have been taken out of the team whilst Rashid, Al-Zabir and Sadat have been brought in. Sadat and Al-Zabir are both 20 years old, whilst Rashid lingers on in his early thirties. The run per over rate of the Bangladesh bowlers in First class is superb, with the majority in the margin of 2.5-2.9 but in One Day they have been quite the opposite. The bowling against Australia was simply mind blowing in Tests but lacked a certain essence and the ability to pick up wickets in the shorter format. The bowlers bowled rather well against India in the Test series, but will the same happen when the bowlers attempt to dismantle India?

The Bangladesh team is crying out for some depth, as if a few players get injured, then they will feel the loss of those players excessively. Sir Ian Botham needs to try and get the bowlers to get the invaluable wickets and needs to get his batsmen to show the consistency they showed in the 5 day format against Australia. He has a young enigmatic and energetic squad, which is willing to try out new tactics and the spirit is stupendously high, so anything is capable. While Bangladesh keep up this atmosphere around their camp and if they can take it onto the pitch, then there's no reason why they can't win. Bar the reason of eleven high caliber Indian players, who are on another level.

First One Day International Preview

With the Test series now over, after a lucky 1-1 draw for Bangladesh, the One Day series may now commence. Both teams lost their last ODI series, against Australia and West Indies respectively, but are looking to change their fortunes with a series win. The Indian team was looking more disciplined and just better overall in the longer format, but anything can happen in a 50 over match. I'm hoping this will end up being a belter.

The Bangladesh team for the First ODI:

1. Shahriar Nafees
2. Javed Omar
3. Habibul Bashar(*)
4. Naeem Islam
5. Rajin Saleh(+)
6. Mohammad Ashraful
7. Nazmus Sadat
8. Arafat Sunny
9. Ahsanullah Hasan
10. Mashrafe Mortaza
11. Hasibul Hossain

The Bangladesh team for the First One Day International includes seven players who played all three One Day matches against Australia earlier in the season. The top three is generally unchanged every match although Javed Omar is losing his place in the team with every poor performance he produces. Shahriar Nafees had a very inconsistent One Day series against Australia but that was after a below average Test series for the opener. However, he has had a good consistent Test series, making some nice starts. He made three scores in the twenties and one score of 67 in four innings, which puts him in great stead for the shorter format. Javed Omar has been told that if he fails to score big in this match, he's out of the playing eleven. He has had a diabolical season this year and his form has been terrible compared to the potential he has shown in recent years. He needs a good ODI series. Habibul Bashar has been the most dependable batsman for Bangladesh in recent years, and that hasn't changed at all. His average of 43 in Tests this season and 70 in ODIs shows his dominance against the two best teams in the world. He is the most indispensable member of the batting lineup by far.

The middle order consists of Islam, Saleh, Ashraful and new arrival, Sadat. Islam has shown immense promise in recent months, more so against Australia, but didn't back up his illustrious start with some average performances. He is only young, however, and has had to make many match winning knocks under great pressure, which would be very difficult for a teenager. Rajin Saleh comes in just after him at number five and is the wicketkeeper for the match, with Rahim dropped due to poor form. Rajin Saleh had a terrible Test series against Australia and was duly dropped for the One Day matches. Like Nafees, however, he has made a good start to the Indian tour and has made two decent knocks. At only 22 years old, he is still yet to adapt fully to the 50 over game but with his talent he shouldn't have too much problem with time. Mohammad Ashraful averaged 10.67 against Australia in three One Day Internationals which is pretty rubbish, I'm sure you'll agree. He also had a mediocre Test series, so you must ask yourself why he is still in the team? Well he is still young and has the capability of turning a match on it's head, according to coach Sir Ian Botham. We are yet to see this tour this ability and determination from Ashraful but if Botham can see it, there must be something there. If all fails and Bangladesh are required to bat lower, than Nazmus Sadat can step up to the plate. At only twenty years old, he averages 17 with the ball in OD whilst averaging 36 with the bat. He is one of many young performers in this Bangladesh lineup looking to cement their position in the team.

The bowling attack, Sadat aside, is relatively strong. Mortaza, Hasan and Sunny are the spearhead of the bowling attack with Hossain needing to improve to make sure his position is guaranteed. Mashrafe Mortaza and Hasibul Hossain are the seamers chosen for the first One Day match, ahead of rivals Al-Zabir and Rashid. Mortaza has been the best seamer for Bangladesh of late but Hossain isn't too shabby with the ball and can knock up a sensational spell at times. The spin attack for Bangladesh is largely their strong point. Arafat Sunny has taken 30 wickets in four Test matches this season and is looking Warne-esque. The young spinner has impressed witness' all over the world with his onslaught of wickets and brilliant performances. As long as he performs, Bangladesh have a chance. Ahsanullah Hasan backs up his team-mate with his slow left arm, which can prove destructive at times. He has been very consistent but has been unlucky not to pick up as many wickets as he has. Sadat rounds up the bowling attack with his spin as Bangladesh boast a mean looking lineup. This could, perhaps, beat India.

Despite being known to be One Day specialists in recent times, under recent coaches, things seem to of changed under Sir Ian Botham. Their Test record speaks for itself but they have yet to prove themselves in the less important branch of the game. If they want to be taken seriously in their adventure to the top of the rankings, then they need to learn to adapt to every format. This series is paramount to their training and improvement.

1. Virender Sehwag
2. Dheeraj Jadhav
3. Sachin Tendulkar
4. Rahul Dravid
5. VVS Laxman
6. Mahendra Singh Dhoni
7. Joginder Sharma
8. Harbhajan Singh
9. Anil Kumble
10. Gagandeep Singh
11. Sandeep Maniar

Sehwag, Jadhav and Tendulkar once again take the reins at the top of the Indian batting lineup. Sehwag is a very aggressive batsman and can smash boundaries at any given time, no matter what the team's position is. He had a mixed Test series against Bangladesh with only one half century to his name. He hasn't made the most flashing and brilliant innings yet but its the risks that he takes and the chance that he just might make a quality score. His opening partner is Dheeraj Jadhav, who he has grown accustomed to opening the batting for India. He hit back to back centuries in the Test series which saw him either hit out or get out. His ability to play well whilst others fall around him is easy for anyone to see and his hunger for runs is a lovely thing to behold in a batsman. Sachin Tendulkar is the best batsman, in my mind, in the Indian lineup. He strikes fear through any bowler, no matter how old or young. He has been one of the best batsmen of all time, arguably, but needs to regain his legendary composure and determination to grind out yet another match winning knock. He's capable of it and will no doubt live up to those high expectations laid out for him.

Dravid, Laxman, Dhoni and Sharma occupy the middle order ranks for the decorated Indian team. The middle order for India has always been a positive and has always been one of their best assets. Dravid is most certainly a wall that is as hard to break as the infamous Great Wall of China. He has not featured in a One Day match this year but is set to make his season debut in the short format. It will definitely be interesting to find out how fast his strike rate will be. Laxman is as dominant a figure in the One Day team as normal. He has not been sensational by any means with the bat in Test matches but has found himself to be in a rich rein of form when batting in the short format. Mahendra Singh Dhoni is India's captain and he has been inspirational for India with the bat and gloves. His low score was 33 and he scored two miraculous half centuries which put his team on the track to drawing the series. When the team was down in the dumps, he took the match by the scruff of its neck and got them back into the match. His performance is vital in the outcome of the match. Joginder Sharma is the all rounder selected for the first One Day International despite not being chosen for the Test teams. He played for India five times against West Indies in One Day Internationals and averaged a terrific 17 with the ball and 11.33 with the bat. His batting left alot to be desired but his bowling made up for it, for sure. He will need to try and offer some lower order hitting in India's search for dominance in the match.

India boast a very mixed bowling attack with some past experience overshadowed by young guns. Harbhajan Singh and Anil Kumble are no doubt the best bowlers by far in the team and have been the most comprehensive bowlers so far this season for India. However, Maniar has taken the most wickets and has been the most effective bowler for India. Singh however has not been as effective. He has only taken 7 wickets in One Day Internationals this season at 30.57 which is not the best average ever witnessed, by any stretch of the imagination. The bowling attack, individually, is awesome in places and quite nurtured in other places. However, as a whole and when you put all the bowlers together into one department, then you can see the compact quality on show. India have strength in depth all over the shop and have no doubt sparked fear in the minds of the Bangladesh players and supporters alike.

The Indian team is not the strongest it has been in recent years but the team is definitely on the mend with many young players being brought into the team to replace the aging players who have been taken out of the side, after years of commitment. However, it is now time for this team to mould together, play together and do what they love together, to unite the nation of India and win the series as a country. India are my favourites, obviously, and are a must for any person looking to make a few easy bucks.

Pitch

Bangladesh's chances of a result in their favour is best when the pitch is spinning. They seem to of got the luck they need and have been given the spinner pitch. The forecast for the match is sun with a hint of cloud for the morning and afternoon with a little bit of more cloud coming in in the evening. The bounce is perfect which will give a massive advantage to the batsmen. The wear is average which won't really help anyone to be honest. The outfield is slow which means we may not see as many boundaries as you expect to see in a 50 overs match. The light is very good so we are bound to have a perfect match ahead of us.

Toss

Both the captains have been out there and shook hands gracefully. They then preceded to look at the pitch and were both quoted on saying that they would like to bat first. They then did the toss, which was won by India. Mahendra Singh Dhoni decided to put his own team into bat, thus meaning Bangladesh will bowl first. India have the form of winning the most recent Test match but Bangladesh have the immense amount of team spirit which can overcome any boundary. Who will win? We'll soon find out...

Omar needs a performance or else it's over for him. Nice to see a no nonsense approach from Beefy. Bashar has been a great captain so far, keeping it on his shoulders and still getting runs. Will be a toughie but I reckon Bangladesh will pull it off. Also nice to see Jadhav for India :D.

Jadhav rules!!!
The top order will be the bigest problem for the Banga bowling attack.

Yeah Jadhav rules in ICC get rid of him earlier and then Sachin comes in. Get them out under 50 runs and Bangladesh probably have the match.

Bangla needs to take wickets quickly inorder to win the match . Anyways nice update Jaz KUTGW.
