Battles in Cricket Chat?

Just wait, you impatient fool! That might be his compromise! :p

lol, i may be impatient, but that was a dam good idea in my opinion :D

I completley agree NP. The comparisons should be something like Tendulkar vs Gavaskar and not Harmison vs Bradman.

I guarantee that there will be someone who tries to compare a batsman to a bowler. In a similar threadn on another site I was critiscized for saying that Atherton was a better batsman than Wasim Akram. That's no lie either.

There is just one pairing id like, and thats Lara Vs. Bradmen, actually id like to see Warne bowling to Bradmen :D The best bowler and best batsmen :D

Well, the preliminary battles might end up being mismatches, but only the best of the best will feature in the later rounds.

After all, it wouldn't be fair if either Tendulkar or Gavaskar didn't make it past the first round.

Oh and batsmen will be matched up against bowlers, since you'll be judging which is/was the better cricketer.

We don't know for sure that Bradman is the best batsman ever and you can't call Warne the best bowler ever because he can't bowl 90mph yorkers can he?

Oh lord, we've started already. :p

Another thing I wanted to throw out there. In the Battle of the Australians, I ended up omitting Bradman from the entire thing, since he would have ended up winning. Instead I made it a battle of second best Aussie.

Shall we do the same thing here?

Cricket Chat is dead because everybody is too afraid to put a foot wrong. I mean there have been times when I've been discussing with 4 or 5 people in a thread for a couple of hours before a mod comes along and decides that it's too heated or some rubbish and closes the thread. It's a joke.

This battle thing seems a bit weird to me. I mean what is the point? At the end of the day, people are always comparing two players. I've seen plenty of times when people have been discussing a game where Person A will say 'Warne is the best bowler ever" only for Person B to flag them up and come up with an argument. But wait, that kind of thing gets deleted for going off topic.

I'd put money on the fact that if the mods eased off, only deleting posts that cause serious offence, then this section would be one of the most populated on the board. That's my vote, a trial period if you like.

Id say yes....But if you do that for Australia then you have to take out Monty Panesar for England :p He'd win it no problamo!

In my opinion, and i believe its valid as ive spend much time on other forums, the Mods and Admins here are very relaxed and dont seem to mind heated discussions....if a thread is going offtopic most Mods will remind people to get back on topic before closing it :p

Except Kev! He just closes any thread which goes slightly offtopic ;) Nah im joking, like i said Mods are very reasonable, and if a post is slightly against the rules, such as a few weeks ago when i was discussing religion with a few people in the Superthread, that could be classed as against the rules....but due to the mods wanting decent discussion which bring people into PC they know when to let it go on!

Threads have only been closed (temporarily) when things get out of hand. You have to understand that we have kids on this forum, so mods have to be extra cautious.

Out of the, what 5-10 members who regularly use the Cricket Chat forum, how many do you reckon are say, under the age of 14?

out of ten members id say 4 would be 15, maybe 1 who was under, and 5 who were 16+

But you are forgetting about those who are reading the forums daily without signing up :D

i do this on a few forums, just read what people have to say, and if a 14 year old is reading either bad language or really out of hands arguement, it isnt good for the forums appeal to a wide range of ages

Just a reminder that this thread isn't intended for discussing the actions of mods in the cricket chat forum.
Cheers.

Is there now way to open up a seperate sub-forum for it? That might help keep it alive at the start, but once people join, it should be great!
I'm starting to like this idea more as I now remember how cricksim threads used to clutter up the stories forum until they were moved into their own sub forum.

Have the admins come to a decision about this yet?
