Beginners Checklist

First time poster, long time lurker, proud to be a Middlesex fan.

So I've bitten the bullet and traded in my copy of DB14 and put the money towards a used copy of DB17 which should arrive at some point this week.

What are your guys recommendations for actions I need to complete before diving into career mode?

Already on my list is the recommended team download thread on the cricket academy pages instead of get best, will that also bring down the stadiums?

Looking to start as a spin bowling all rounder for Middlesex in the CC.

Any advice would be gratefully received.

On a side note, the work that's gone in form the community to create some of those kits is fantastic and the guys who've done that deserve immense credit.

Yes the stadiums and bats are downloaded with the teams, although the bats do not end up in your bat editor, and you seem to get multiple stadiums being saved, I have 4 adelaides, 3 Newlands etc etc... apparently there is a logo limit (i havent reached yet) and the duplicate stadiums withe their duplicate logos may be an issue here.

Well the opinion I've formed from these forums and reviews is that it is a clear upgrade on DB14 with some early bugs, all games suffer from this. BigAnt have a history of good post release support, and I loved DB14 even though I wasn't the best at it, so really it was a no brainier. Added with the fact I've managed to pick up an early second hand copy and traded in DB14, total no brainier.

BigAnt have a history of good post release support, and I loved DB14 even though I wasn't the best at it, so really it was a no brainier. Yes you can, but I would think you would have to go through all the teams again and assign all the home stadiums to what is left on your system manually..

@Acid Burn has confirmed duplicate bat logos being saved, and that if you delete one, one of your bats will be missing its logo..

Yeah. If, for example, you download Middlesex and England, you'll get two copies of Lord's. If you delete one, then one of those teams will loose the ground and you'll have to go into team manager and add it to the other one manually.

Also @mkstatto before you start a Career you should be aware of a couple of minor bugs with career which are currently unresolved.

Firstly, duplicate players. When you download the international and domestic sides, even if they are correctly linked, career mode will treat the england player and county player as seperate and then the automatic selector within career mode sometimes picks both for the England team. Especially seems to affect fast bowlers eg. Anderson, Broad, Starc.

Secondly, Selection, the issue mentioned here- Representative Career Issue - Don Bradman Cricket 17 Forum on PlanetCricket Forums (basically means you never get selected for England) I believe starting a career with 'Get Best' teams resolves it but unconfirmed if downloading the individual teams from Planet Cricket Recommended thread would also fix.

Also, as @Jerm said, if you manually download teams rather than using Get Best you'll need to manually change the team logo under Identity back to the default to stop crashes once you get to domestic level (Big Bash league seems to be particularly suceptible.)

All seem likely to be resolved completely with the next patch, when that comes.

I don't think you can download kits/uniforms all by themselves. They are downloaded along with the team but my recommendation is that if you want to start a career mode first up, stick to on-disc teams. You are less likely to run into issues such as crashes, duplicate players or not being able to be selected for national team.

I think he is the one who created a very good post pointing out most of the issues, but only some of them are a bit annoying and most of them can be fixed. I can't stop playing the game ever since I got it even with these bugs. I too started a career as batting all rounder but stopped playing it as our player stats are not available and I get to play T20s all the time. I am playing online mostly these days and it gets addictive once we get used to it. Against AI, I play on medium diff batting and bowling. A very wise decision made. If you are on XBone, hit me up for some games when you get the game..

The best advice is dont start career just yet.
Wait until its more stable with crashes and logos get best etc and most importantly until your attributes increase without the simulating fix. Also wait until representative selection is fixed.
Dont start career mode man.
